When there's no need to explain... Great CD "Bringing on the Weather" "Bringin on the weather He carves a wake Through the dark belly of the night With the thunderhead column Following behind him For the forced march into Morningside Deep in Texas Summer's hotter Than she can recall And she's been dried up lately From the cryin Through the alcohol There's the drone of the diesel below The whiteness of the silence from his radio Oh, he's a man behind the wheel Pushin on, she's callin Bringin on the weather With his mind on her and Morningside He measures himself in miles Until one day by the laundry wire She saw the thunderheads and heard The drone of the diesel below The whiteness of the silence from his radio Oh, he's a man behind the wheel Pushin on, she's callin Bringin on the weather And there's a tired man Standin with his girl in the rain But there's a diesel runnin in the driveway Don't you know he's got another run to make But it won't take him far And at least some rain came At least some rain came At least some rain came Came on with the weather There's the drone of the diesel below The whiteness of the silence from his radio Oh, he's a man behind the wheel Pushin on, she's callin And there's the drone of the diesel below The whiteness of the silence from his radio Oh, he's a man behind the wheel Pushin on, she's callin Bringin on the weather Bringin on the weather" If anyone's interested I have loaded up this one song to: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=8A02BD860A9D4D63 Warmly, Cassy NP: Scared of You - Nelly Furtado ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 02 Jul 2006 20:12:21 +0000 From: "Patti Parlette" Subject: Big Mamma Fellow JMOCDed Mingus answered my question: (I wonder what Joni's grandson calls her?) > > I remember reading Marlin calls her "Big Mamma" > >Peace >Mingus (who is also JMOCD) "Big Mamma?" *Really*? That's perfect for Joni! No mere Grandma, she. Wow. Out of the mouths of babes....this little boy gazes upon his grandmother and knows just what to call her. I love it! Merci, Mingus! It makes me think that for all the sad years she didn't get to be a mama, now she gets to be a big one. I like that. Big Mamma. Yep. She taught us the deeper meaning. My reaction? Applause, applause! He totally gets Joni, in my opinion. That was beautiful to read. After reading it more than once, I am in a state of high Joni arousal. It is so -- what are the words? -- gratifying, affirming, heart-and-mind-warming, so "I'm-not-the-only-crazy-one-who-totally-gets-Joni" to read his words. No one compares to Joni. No one. NPIMH: JT singing "....wondering where I'd be with out you in my life...." because she has been with me since 9th grade, from up and down, and still somehow.....I wonder if I'd be *more* or *less* sane had I not had Joni all these years. Ha. My kids would probably say "more." (A side story: recently we went out to lunch and I was blathering on, as I am wont to do, about Joni. Michael then said: "Chris, when Mom retires I'm sending her out to live with you in Chicago." LOL, without missing a heartbeat, I said: "Oh, don't worry about me! I'm going to the Joni Mitchell Home for Aging Children!" The boys just shook their heads and said I'll never change.) But back to the podcast....a big verboten "me, too" to what Herr Muller wrote: "And since Hejira is my favorite album, I loved this segment: "But you should hear these songs. You need to hear these songs. For the human condition is in this record. And youbre human. And if you can just slow down enough to stop trying to avoid the loneliness, "Hejira" will resonate." Thanks a lot for sharing the link: http://www.lefsetz.com/wordpress/index.php Yesiree, Bob! Thanks again, Cassy. I also liked this part: "I always saw "California" as an optimistic song, one of hope and relief. But last night I heard a sadness. Thats what great songs do. They evolve as you listen to them, new meanings are revealed and you fall in love with them all over again." Both sides now of California. So true. This Joni. Such a genius. Please allow me a little poetic license with the Beatles as I share with you what's now playing in my head (and it probably stems from Mingus's "Big Mamma" post): When I find myself in times of trouble, Joni Mitchell comes to me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be. And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be. Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be. Whisper words of wisdom, let it be. And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree, there will be an answer, let it be. For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see, there will be an answer. let it be. Let it be, let it be, ..... And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me, shine until tomorrow, let it be. I wake up to the sound of music, Joni Mitchell comes to me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be. Sorry, mes Joniami(e)s -- my JMOCD is in overdrive today!
