I had been looking for alternate ALL INCLUSIVE places with a performance space to use for the train idea but it proved to be too expensive and exhausting in trying to figure out the logistics to do a Fest sort of gathering on the train with a stop or two. Now that Ashara is planning another Jonifest in the great Northeast the pressure is off for me to find somewhere for us to gather any time soon. I do feel like this would be a great place for us to have a fest/gathering sometime after the 2007 NE Jonifest. I was thinking maybe fall of 2007 or 2008. $100 a day double occupancy is a great deal with premium liquor included. They have a performance space and sound system and we could use at times privately as well as allow other guests to participate in our performances etc. Anyways I thought it would be a nice warm place to go and those damn Brits and Europeans will love the place cause of the great weather and beaches. Anyways I am putting this out there for your comments and thoughts and possible commitments to help in the planning of something and lets PARTY! Below is an email I received from the travel agent Janet (Jaunts with Janet) (kinda sounds like something Smurph would do to someone huh jaunting but I digress). BTW there can be know triple or quad rooms. They can also put us in specfic areas that we requests and reserve gathering space etc.. Anyway please discuss and let me know your thoughts. A lot of people are close enough to drive. Love Paz (a travel nut) P.S. Hey Tex they do have a duck pond so you will be right at home. - -----Original Message----- From: Janet Morgan [mailto:janet@jauntstravel.com] Sent: Monday, June 05, 2006 3:05 PM To: Michael Paz Subject: September Trip Michael, Occupancy in the Club Med rooms would be limited to 2 adults maximum. There can be 2 adults and 2 children (or one child) but not 3 or 4 adults in one room. So the rates as I gave you before would be pretty much the same -- $400 per person -- double occupancy $800 per person -- single occupancy The rates are for the 4 nights and would be an all inclusive rate -- accommodations, meals, beverages, water activities, gratuities, taxes, etc. Everyone who will attend will be adults -- is that correct? I double checked about your request that everyone be able to have meals at the same time. After the reservation is made, we will make that request and Club Med should be able to accommodate you. I also checked on the entertainment space and, again, Club Med will work with you. Thanks! Janet Michael, Follows is a website where you can "take a jaunt with Janet". http://www.jaunts.com/ClubMed/Sandpiper.html Thanks! Janet Planning Vacations... Dave Blackburn wrote: Tom, I haven't done the two you are asking about but I did post a transcription of Down to You on the site. Les put it in the guitar tabs section (a little confusingly-perhaps a piano music site section could be started...) Now me: I can attest that Dave's transcription of "Down To You" is more than spongeworthy. It can turn you into a full orchestra. Truth be known about transcriptions of Joni's piano work: the best and most faithful of them won't reproduce the melody lines, so they might not qualify as true "PIANO/VOCAL" charts. Her voice is the lead instrument on most of them with the left hand providing bass and rhythm and the right adding color, harmony and contrapuntal textures. Her vocal usually occupies the middle ground between the two, but often flies out to swoop around them and returns. The magic comes when you experience the vocal in your mind's ear while you play. It's just heavenly. I've always wished that the "Ladies Of The Canyon" songbook be revisited for the piano pieces to be recharted. I've spent the equivalent of months trying to get close on "Rainy Night House", "Blue Boy" and "The Arrangement" and I always find myself going major when I should be somewhere else. I don't think the classical influence on her piano was stronger on any other album (although some would argue that FTR was just that...I think the jazz was already filtering through), but it tended to be blissfully, intentionally naive and simple. Simple enough that is to chasten me and remind me of my limitations.
