Thanks for introducing me to another "unknown" artist. Whoever put the video up on YouTube has (so far) forgotten - or decided not to take it down from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YM3EQVUkMzc&search=judee%20sill [it's not cutting out before the end for me, Mark (?)] It's taken from a DVD compilation of the 1970s/80s UK TV show 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' which was hosted by DJ 'Whisperin' Bob Harris, who still has shows on BBC radio. (Funnily enough, Judee had been married to another guy called Bob Harris who produced and orchestrated a lot of her first album and who some articles on the net suggest went on to produce Joni's 'Ladies of the Canyon' - although I'm not sure this is true (anyone know?). I have a feeling they might be muddling him up with Henry Lewy who produced many of Judee's tracks and is credited as "engineered and advised by" on LOTC. It's an especially good time to be discovering Judee at the moment, Mike, as tomorrow (June 20th) Amazon should have copies of "Abracadabra - Complete Asylum Recordings - see http://snipurl.com/judee_sill_amazon $18.49 or 9.99GBP in the UK from http://snipurl.com/judee_sill_amazonUK It says here: >> 2006 two CD compilation from this under-rated folk artist containing both albums she recorded for the fledgling Asylum Records label (Judee Sill from 1971 and Heart Food from '73) plus 19 bonus tracks. This collection combines both Expanded Versions of her albums, originally issued in limited quantity by Rhino Handmade in 2004. Think it's time to replace the scratchy old CD I burnt from my original scratchy old vinyl. Joni has said she doesn't write at all anymore (songs). In fact, she has admitted that she did two albums of old songs for that exact reason (she was under contract to provide albums). Some recent news has shown that's not totally true (that she doesn't write at all anymore), but it's unlikely that she has a lot of unrecorded material swimming around in her head. Why, yes, I *was* watching the cartoon "Hey, Arnold!" on Nick Tunes and the main character, Arnold's friend Eugene, talks him into playing hookey. Eugene: "We'll be free men in Paris, unfettered and alive." Arnold: "What?!" Eugene: "I heard it on a hippie record." I nearly spit my Cheerios across the table at my 10-year-old son. Ha!
