Paul Horn - Blue (with a Joni scat vocal) Nice collection, Bob-but I can't let that description stand... since a scat vocal would be a jazzy improv thing..what we have here is Joni doing Blue on piano and wordless vocals, virtually identical to her original version, with Paul Horn (of "Inside" the Taj Mahal fame) playing a flute melody along with her vocal. As much a Joni performance as a cover, this should be in every Joni lover's collection. (from my LP btw...I bought this album, "Visons" in '74 and was pleasantly surprised to find this gem on it...also songs by David Crosby and Stevie Wonder. Still out of print, never on CD but you can find it pretty cheap on ebay. Seacrest out.) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 May 2006 11:27:52 -0700 (PDT) From: Nuriel Tobias Subject: I'm Not There http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/0526Blanchett-ON.html Which is really sad news cause i was hoping Heath could play Joni. I mean, is there any other man out there who could play Joni better than Heath? Nuri - --------------------------------- Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. I have just overcome a nagging problem. Many DVDs that I have including some of the Joni DVDs I have received from the list are foreign region codes and/or formats. Most people in Australia hack their DVD players to make them multi-region. This is not possible on my Mac which is all I use these days for playing DVDs. The solution? There is a very cool media player called VLC. It will play almost any video file there is. Including DVDs. It will also play any DVD region code or format (PAL, NTSC). I am a Hitchcock fan and have his entire collection - some bought on eBay from overseas. Some of them have been sitting on my DVD shelf since I bought them unable to be played. Now I can watch them and I'm overjoyed. I highly recommend VLC. It is free software and is available for Windows and Mac. You can download it from Version Tracker or Tucows. Thanks so much. I had a lot of these covers even before I rejoined the JMDL but many of them I didn't have. I have been dying to get hold of the Paul Horn version of Blue for a long time. It more than met my expectations. When was this recorded? It sounds like it must have been recorded shortly after Joni's original. It also sounds like it is Joni on piano. Is Paul Horn a flautist? I'm going to reburn my copy of Blue to include this as a reprise at the end. Thanks so much Bob. Mark in Sydney NP Blue - Joni Mitchell with Paul Horn. A very unique track, in some ways not really a cover at all...but when all is said and done, I think it belongs. Glad you are enjoying it. Bob NP: Paul Horn w/Joni, "Blue" Tired of spam? Yahoo!
