The great first-impression stuff sometimes leaves a body "bored" very soon. At least thats my experience. They end up being musical "one liners". All Joni's stuff has had to "grow" on me. Have had to give virtually ALL her stuff 3 or 4 listens before I was able to penetrate. Hey, the prize at the core makes it *worth* penetrating! ;) Em ps: hell I'm STILL trying to penetrate DJRD, but its fun pecking away - --- Paul Castle wrote: > Isn't Dylan supposed to have fallen asleep > when she first played Court & Spark to him? > > PaulC ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 May 2006 10:21:46 EDT From: RoseMJoy@aol.com Subject: Interesting Travelogue item on Ebay I don't know if anyone posted about this or not, but I thought it might be of interest...some nice photos included of Joni in her garden with her easel and some of her paintings. I wonder if anyone has this recording or knows where I can buy it?> Steve, it's not for sale. It's available at no charge from the collector community because it's not a catalog release. That is, by sharing it, we don't take any money out of Joni's pocket. Believe me, sharing this recording causes hunger to buy more of Joni's catalog. The version most often shared on the JMDL is a pristine "remastered" version by Simon Montgomery. If you send a blank CD and return postage, I'll put the show on it, with a track list for your jewel box, and fire it back. You might want to send 3 CDs in total so I can put some recent interviews on the others for you. Write to me off-list for details. This offer is open to everyone, of course. All you have to do is promise not to sell it. Who is the source of this stuff turning up on Ebay, do you think it is Robbie Cavolina?" This isn't the first time that article has been offered. Someone must feel it's worth a LOT if it didn't make the reserve price last time. It might be, if Travelogue is truly her last recorded work. I'd hate to think that someone got that by rifling through Joni's trash. But just thinking out loud...if the song order is different, maybe there's a hidden message there? Should we re-arrange the first letters of the song order? Will it spell, "Paul is dead" or something like SIQUOMB or MOSALM or SO DARK THE CON OF MAN? I don't think it's Robbie Cavolina, I think it's Myrtle. She likes to play the slots. Call me when the "Saturday Night Fish Fry" flower pot comes up. THAT I'll pay for.
