And a great one it was, Steve - thanks for the intro. > I never knew there were Joni DVDs and gold CDs > and all this stuff. And that's just the legitimate stuff - you don't EVEN want to know about all the live shows and misc. stuff bubbling underground. You can check out many of them here: http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/ > Anyway, nice to know there are others out > there. Isn't it though? The world is a smaller and friendlier place once you make the discovery. Look forward to hearing more from you. Bob NP: Drive-By Truckers, "Daddy's Cup" Tired of spam? Yahoo! We had breakfast with Bruce this morning and he trested us to about a 6 song rehearsal. He played Mary Don't You Weep and the most powerful version of My City In Ruins. I looked out over the flooded track from last nights rain and I was overcome with emotion be reminded of my own city under water a few short months ago. What an amazing day. Last night DMB was incredible. We are live this afternoon on msnvideo.com/jazzfest. Bruce's first 2 songs of the set will be on l.ive at 5:30pm. You can watch the whole show starting at 2pm till 7pm. I went to the exhibit last Sunday, took pictures, and copied down a few things -- a poem Joni wrote to her dad, a bit of an essay about painting -- but I haven't had time to sit down and write up a report. Let me just say that it was very nicely done, that when Joni was two or three she drew the same sorts of pictures that we all have in our baby books from when we were that age, but after that her talents really start to show in her drawings. Les, the pictures I got will take some time to send via dialup so will have to be emailed one at a time I think. Because so many of the photographs and drawings were framed and glass-covered, I thought there'd be a huge glare from my camera flash and so did not try to take a photo of everything. It turned out I got some that were pretty decent, glare or no glare. But you have to enlarge them once in order to read the words. Then there're Joni's contributions to that subject matter, such as "Harry's House," "Hissing of Summer Lawns," and "In France They Kiss on Main Street," with its incomparable lines, "They've been broken in churches and schools, And molded to middle class circumstance." Damn, she is good. Plus there's the Kinks' "Shangri-La:" "Sit right back in your rocking chair, You need not worry and you need not care, You're in your place and you know where you are, In your Shangri-La."
