D***! Wish I was going. Really want to see Sonya Kitchell sing "Trouble Child." 16 years old... dang! And, it sounds like Joni IS planning on making an appearance. COOOOL! So, have fun, be smartNsafe... safeNsmart... those 2 words must be joined when in NYC. It's definitely NOT Kansas. Lots of con artists and damn! are they good. Travel in teams. Each member watching from every angle before one moves in. Not trying to scare you... Not talking about muggers with weapons. PLEASE don't misunderstand! Just have this need to nurture my new friends at JMDL. Peacenlove, Cathy P.S. Two at a time stand back to back at an ATM. One facing the ATM, one the street. Even a crowded street. Ok, I'll stop it! If it is, you can ask at JFK for directions as this would be a least expensive option (whatever the shuttle charges, maybe $2. and the $2. subway fare right into Manhattan- ask someone at the subway station which stop to get off that's clostest to Park Central.) It was a wonderful production, and I rather liked that it was not just about Joni, Neil etc. Did you see Burton Cummings though? yikes. The bits of Joni were lovely and endearing, just the same. Imagine never having seen any of these gems. Wonderful finds really. Someone was asking me about her open tuning, and I know I can go to the fantastic NEW jmdl site and read all about it, but would anyone mind having a discussion with me about Joni's guitar work and is it possible that I might learn to play something from her catalogue? I'm a soundscape kinda gal, and figured it might work okay. anyway, this film supports what Ive been saying since Ive lived in Winnipeg, there is something here that draws music out of us like nowhere Ive ever been. Amazing. More soon. Do enjoy NYC everyone, and I look forward to hearing all about it. oh and by the by, Lama, Ms Timmins was gorgeous as always. ;-)) Mags (still tired out from major giggage Sunday). soon rehearsing/jamming with Ms Luft of the Jennys. As many of you know, I work at an international airport ... and on many an occasion have met the likes of Margaret Atwood, Thomas King, the Governor General; peeps from all walks of life....and so it seems, even Joni. !!!!!! Yes indeed, Joni Mitchell was at the Winnipeg International Airport, as she had just been visiting her parents in Sask. The weather on the prairie here has been crazy warm/cold/warm again, and thus the boggyfogg rolled in....and if you know anything about fog on the prairie...forget about flying. When a rolling thunder chases the wind, ;-), on top of that...yea, a thunder storm in the middle of winter!!.. .well, needless to say,the airport in Saskatoon gets socked in something terrible. And so it went today. Joni's plane had to make an emergency landing down here and whilst the fog was wrapped around this faire city like a heavy wool blanket, she made an appearance in the lounge behind security, where I work. Anyway....Joni was very excited about the Tribute, smoked like a fiend, (hackhack) (of course they LET her) , she was madder than a hornet that the Relay Store didnt carry her brand of ciggys....alas and alack. She snarged back several DuMaurier and caused quite the commotion....Joni who??? . oh yea, that thing on tv last night....She thought she got ripped majorly by the small bits and bites of her on that CBC show, and plans to raise a little hell, and will no doubt say so in New York...hoping that she's get her due attention. Amazing woman. And so short. Well, next to this nearly 6' tall amazonian ;-)) Awww she's a sweetheart, feisty and wonderful to hang with. No worries about not having anything to say...those of you who have met her can attest to the fact that she is more than capable of holding the convo while you hold the sil=ence ;-)) Happened to mention my guitar , and she told me all about the journey to open tuning, so y'all dont need to fill me in on any of that. Dont even bother! et dans la fermeture, je vous souhaite un jour ttt d'imbicile d'avril avec amour, tous les jours, Mags xo let us go then you and i ~t.s.eliot~ With a free 1 GB, there's more in store with Yahoo! Seems like she would carry an extra suitcase with her brand of cigs in it. Imagine the Winnipeg International not having HER brand! WTF!
