Good Morning Joni Folks- My friend John Kelly just called me and has agreed to perform for us at the fundraiser on Thursday night at the Rockwood Music Hall. You people better take a little nap early in the evening and bring your Geritol so you can all stay up late for the all nighter that were fixing to have. We promise to put John on early in the program so that you older people that can't hang (HI Ashara!) can catch his performance. He told me has not been doing the Joni thing for quite some time and has been busy teaching and doing other acting. Right now he is on a little hiatus so we caught him right at the right time. I am so excited that I am finally gonna get to see him perform live. I still might have one old pal that lives in NYC that we might be able to get come out and hang with us. Whoo hoo! Well, Christmas has already past... but I've just received, though a good friend of mine, a couple of River covers to share with you: if you have any problem downloading them, or if oyu wish them in better format (FLAC, for instance) just tell me. I was reading this morning's Digest (Wednesday), thinking about Marianne...thinking I would post, suggesting collective support, when I read that Marianne, Bree and Laura won't be able to attend the Tribute. I know how much being together with other members of our 'family' meant to each of you...and, of course, attending the Tribute. At first Marianne wrote to me OTL that she was planning to attend....now, for obvious reasons, another choice has been made. Marianne, this is a fragile time in your life...and a time you will cherish. "In memory is life's reason". This is such a comforting quote, don't you think? It offers me immeasurable comfort when I embrace memories of my father who died in 1981. Instead of sending Mar a personal e-mail (which I'll also do), I want to post this as a way to acknowledge this time in Marianne's life...surely a tapestry of complex feelings some of which holding emotional intensity beyond description. I am with you in spirit, Marianne. I know you know this....and I feel certain we are all experiencing different levels of feelings for you. I hope you can feel a collective support...a collective sentiment that communicates all interpretations of love. I am here for you, Marianne and Bree, as are so many people who form the membership of our Digest family..... sending you pillows of support and love to fall upon when the moments feel too intense to embrace. As a newbie, I started out on a sour note with my protest about the pissing and moaning related to Joni's annoucement via managers, that she would not be in attendance at Carnege Hall. Because of the drama, I was going to check out of this JMDL. I was disappointment, to say the least. However, because of Lori's prompting, I have decided to hang long enough to give it a chance. While skimming through comments that are not related to JM, I stopped dead in my tracks reading your contribution. I have this to say. Gee, where do I start. And, where do I get off on thinking what I have to say would be of any importance? Ok... this is my attempt at encouraging you. "he still has a sense of humor . . he is still warm and loving. ." That is waaay cool. Do the research. You'll know what I mean. "This time has been good in a way. .a way to say a long good bye. .at first the doctors gave him 3 months. ." "on Saturday a doctor said 2 to 4 weeks. . .(you don't' know)" Again, google it and you'll be encouraged. Because of the tremendous amount of law suits, Drs. have to speak the worst. It's so bad, that it's a miracle people even still go into the medical profession. "It is really like a long wake with people coming to see him/us every day. .one, two, three at a time. . .yet, it is good that way. . . WOW, WOW, WOW. Good for you. I have no better words. "loves his dog and his longtime girlfriend of 20 years. .. (a bright addition to our family)" This is my fave!!! Again, I can't find the words to express why. Gee, I'm really saying the right things to encourage you!! "he lived a simple life. . .liked wood burning stoves and all the things of the country he helped me do lots of stuff in the barn he would help anyone served in the navy in the Korean war. ."
