Laurie Anderson performed an AMAZING cover of BSN at Wall to Wall Joni a couple of years back but I'm betting that she does something different this time around - she's too creative and unpredictable to be, well, predictable. And as I said before, I am majorly bummed that Ben & Joe are off the program. Hearing two of the finest piano players in pop tackle Joni's piano work would be heavenly. But I remain EXTREMELY excited about the others on the bill, recalling that the most phenomenal performance of Wall to Wall was by Helga Davis, a singer that I had never heard of. Of course, there is ONE guarantee - getting together with all my fellow JMDLer's in NYC is going to ROCK! I've noticed that WFUV-FM is a co-sponsor of the event, so maybe it will be webcast. If so, it would be possible to record the audio, even if it's a stream. That would be nice. Has anyone else noticed that the website for this event quotes The Circle Game but says it's from Ladies Of The Canyon? I suppose they can say they're right in one respect, but still it just looks wrong to me. Bob NP: Ani, "Cloud Blood" - --------------------------------- Yahoo! DSL Something to write home about. Thanks for understanding, Jerry. I am still sitting here stunned and deciding whether the Goddess is trying to tell me not to bother going at all. I'm seriously debating calling my credit card company, cancelling altogether and just mailing them right back. Unfortunately my plane ticket is non-refundable. The only saving grace might be that they seated me next to the Queen herself! Cassy From: "Gerald A. Notaro" <<< The same thing happened to me for the BSN West Palm Beach show. I have been in touch with Michael Dorf and he assures me that the seat I have is "one of the best seats in the house". I quote: "The lodge boxes are the best seats in the house. They are the house seats which are off the reception area." and "I am certain, u will not be unhappy with this box seat." Apparently these seats are not available for general sale. He offered to exchange for Center section middle of the house but I will cross my fingers and bring my popcorn (that brought a smile to my face, Em - thanks). I am fortunate to be able to go to this show at all so, regardless, if I were last row of the balcony and got to see Joni perform I would consider myself blessed. Does anyone know the camera policy at Carnegie Hall? Cassy ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Dec 2005 13:47:25 -0500 (EST) From: "Gerald A. That is first class service, Cassy. I would trust what he has to say. If you've never been there, you will be shocked at how small Carnegie Hall is. There is no bad seat there. > Does anyone know the camera policy at Carnegie Hall? I'm sure there are no photos allowed. If you don't use a flash and are discrete I'm sure you would be able to get a couple of shots. Just as I am sure (hoping) some discrete soul will be recording! I'd trade you my front row seats for that Tier seating in a heartbeat! There is no 15th row in any of the Tier boxes, by the way. There are only 8 seats in each box. You've probably been seated in Tier "Box 15" which is the 8th box from the front on the right side of the stage. My guess is that you won't be sitting next to Joni, but you'll have a bird's eye view of her...I figure they'll sit her and her entourage in Tier Box 65 (or 1). But that's just another of my guesses.. - -Julius In a message dated 12/23/05 8:41:35 AM, Siquomb@Comcast.net writes: > I am apalled at my "VIP" ticket. Hi all.... I was thinking of the TNT tribute a few years back.. it was at the Hammerstein Ballroom..Joni was up in one of those boxes. I'm sure these seats give the best view. Now as far as sound....probably not. I spoke to my nephew ..Scott.. a bit ago..he's a sound guy. He did the sound for Johnny Cash one time..did sound at the inauguration balls last year..etc..he said.. ideally.. you want to sit in the center.... as close to the person who's doing the mixing. Which would probably be back a ways. But..he went on to say that Carnegie acoustics are such that anywhere you would sit ...you'd get decent sound. He also said the quality depends a lot on the person doing the mixing. So we sacrificed sound for view...which is okay with me.
