Hi JIm, thanks for the definition:-) That's sort of what i had thought, but was never quite sure. IN this case, a Joni podcast section on jm.com sounds like a great idea. GARRET (who just can't justify spending so much money on an ipod and who, while he's at it, likes the experience of rooting through piles of cds to find a song that he thought of while on a train somewhere ant to then remember that yes, he just loves that album) Quoting Jim Ayson : > Podcast = iPod + broadCast .. though it really doesn't require an iPod. > > - jim > > - ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Dec 2005 09:09:24 -0500 From: vince Subject: tag should have been added [Fwd: Eugene McCarhty is dead] My apologies for not adding the NJC tag - -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Eugene McCarhty is dead Date: Sun, 11 Dec 2005 09:07:59 -0500 From: vince To: joni My first, and perhaps only, political hero of my lifetime. Imagine leaving home with your whole CD collection in your pocket, instantly retreivable when desired. For example, here are the albums I have stored in mine filed under the artist "Joni Mitchell". Clouds Ladies of the Canyon Blue Court and Spark Miles of Aisles The Hissing of Summer Lawns Hejira Mingus Shadows and Light Dreamland Both Sides Now Travelogue Songs of a Prairie Girl Well ok, I dont have "For the Roses" and Don Juan in there, must remind myself to borrow them one of these days so I can rip 'em. But in the meantime, if I never need to listen to an album or a playlist of songs from those stored albums, whether I am at home, on the road, in the car, or in the office, its a simple matter to call them up at the flick of wheel. Instant Joni on tap when you want it. :-) - - jim ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Dec 2005 13:42:18 -0500 From: "Cassy" Subject: Hints for Santa... I also have an attachment for my I-Pod called an I-Trip. It's a wonderful little gadget that allows me to transmit my I-pod to any radio within range. I set the station to one which isn't being used (mine is set to 87.9), tune the radio to 87.9 and play my I-pod. The result is that my I-pod plays on my home stereo, car stereo or any other radio I choose. I love that I can play my MP3s on better quality sound systems. - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Ayson" <<< Garret - that's what everyone says about an iPod at first - then when they get one they can't imagine life without one. In the meantime, I've got my pocket disc-player (which can also play mp3s, so I can get 6-8 hrs of music on a disc) and my broken el-cheapo disc player, and my computer. Isn't one of the complaints about mp3s that they are inferior, lossless quality (not that most of us, including myself, would notice)? in which case, isn't listening to them on a better quality sound system a bit of a waste? (from she who has a crappy sound system in any case). Let's here an audiophile (ahem) weigh in on that. I got back this evening from my trip and this CD was waiting for me. I actually thought this was good match of singer and song, and it was pretty much what I expected. Now we're one step closer to having all of STAS covered - all we lack is "Pirate of Penance", and I'll be REAL surprised if that one ever gets done. Hey, maybe you can take that statement as a challenge... Anyway, I thought I would share the comments in the liner notes about Cass & this track: "Two pieces dropped from the initial effort are now included: Joni Mitchell's 'Sisotowbell Lane' and John Sebastian's 'Darling Be Home Soon'. Mitchell's piece stands for the idyllic maxim "Somehow in spite of trouble ours will be ever lasting love". Cass dubbed Mitchell 'the greatest poet since Emily Dickinson', but pulled the song on advice from John Simon. He told Cass "if you can't do it any better than it's been done, say like Joni for example, then make your own statement". Cass decided to make her own statement with her own material."
