I had recently read two references in various articles that, one; she had signed a contract several years ago to write the book and as yet hadn't written a single line (now who would know that?!) and second; a quote I believe of Joni stating the first line of her book would be" I'm Don Juans reckless daughter" which I thought would be an outstanding!! The potential of a book written by Joni of her experience, her interpretation of her experience leaves me overwhelmed with anticipation of what may be on Dec 31! Regards! Hope you don't mind my reproducing it here. I've been battling serious illnesses, both my own and my beloved Robert's, but I'm still able to get revvevd up about Bushwhack's latest tragic failure, or the extremely ethically conflicted Guhvuhnataw's decision to veto gay marriage here in California despite its passage in both houses here. It seems lately that if I eweren't heartbroken or furious, I wouldn't be alive. My heart goes out to Paz and all who live in the devastated area. Here, anyway, is the letter: Presidency an Utter Failure Dear Editors, President Bush, the supposed "Leader of the Free World", has yet again provided us with another example of failure in the case of Katrina. A man so fiercely surrounded and protected by people who tell him he can do no wrong, a man who has never known adversity in any form, has shown us that he once again lacks the leadership ability to prepare for disaster, and will never take responsibility for this tragic lack of action. Fifty years from now, historians and people in general will be asking themselves: How did this man get elected? And how could he have led us into pointless, deadly wars and failed to act when a disaster of the scale of Katrina could have been met with federal help in evacuation *pre-storm* ("telling" people who live below the poverty line that they "ought" to get out is not enough), and federal help with rescue and recovery -- not days late, *after* the storm has done its damage and after public pressure builds to take action to save the desparately stranded, but *before* the storm arrived? For once in your life, Mr. Bush, take responsibility for your lack of vision, and take the blame for this fiasco. Saddened, Walter J.
