"Prairie Wind [his new Nashville CD] is due out on Sept. 27. Long-time fans will be in for another treat next year as Young is scheduled to release a treasure trove of archival material from the past 40 years including a slew of unreleased songs." Hopefully this will free up Mr. Bernstein to get to Joni's box. (Did I really say that?) This fall will be interesting, musically, with new CDs by Sheryl Crow, Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Fiona Apple, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Madonna..... Doug from: http://www.nationalreviewofmedicine.com/issue/2004/09_30/feature01_18.html ...Since then, he's recorded three albums, played about fifty gigs a year in western Canada, usually in cosy, intimate shows in cafes and bookstores. He prefers smaller venues where people actually listen. "I think of myself as a lyricist, so I want people to hear the lyrics and understand the stories," he explains. His songs range from a rollicking plea to Joni Mitchell to quit smoking ("I'll write you a prescription for Zyban," he offers in the song), to a heartbreaking ballad about a friend with cancer. "I feel like I have something to say, and this is the best way to say it. It's that personal connection with the audience that I'm trying to achieve." So, if you're out on the town in Calgary and you happen across a guitar-playing guy in a wig and medallion, listen carefully. If you hear the line "Please, Joni, get off the weed," chances are there's a doctor in the house. /Check out Dr J's music at www.gogetm.ca / ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Aug 2005 21:57:35 -0400 From: "Mike and Alice Hicks" Subject: Old Recordings Bob, I may be able to help somewhat. I have about a thousand albums in crates in storage. You may be interested in some. I don't know if they are what you are looking for , but if you can give me the title I will know immedidately if I have it or not. Mike NP: Equation - Kissing Crime ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Aug 2005 22:11:17 -0500 From: Subject: "Fountain of Sorrow"? OK, folks: this came up in another music discussion forum I participate in. And the question is: to the best of your knowledge, was Jackson Browne's "Fountain of Sorrow" written about Joni? I am almost positive I read this somewhere, but, on the other hand, doubt that JB just happened to blurt it out in an interview with Rolling Stone. Was this some critic's interpretation? The conclusion of someone on the JMDL? Anyone remember reading what I did (or something saying basically the same thing)? If so, what's the source? I always feel somewhat guilty about playing the Name Game, but I promised I would ask.
