And you know there may be more. The other two discs sound like stellar stuff as well. (Here's some killer Janis for you, Em, et al. on disc 2.) I pre-ordered this and the soon-to-be-released Cavett Show DVD set that is all Ray Charles. Woohoo. Looking forward to that one, too. - -Julius Zen 'o the Day: "Unite all things. I agree. I also wonder without that musical ability how many people would know her lyrics. I mean if a poet sells 1,000 copies of a book he/she is doing well. Hi Kate, I see the wisdom in Joni saying this. She is definitely for women's rights and equality, but I can understand how she might not buy the exclusivity of the package labeled "feminist." It could be that it is too limiting for her as was the idea that one could be a painter or a musician but not both. I can also see the wisdom in the generation that calls itself X and tries not to fall into labeled categories. As for Joni being a flake... I would say she is like a snow flake floating through the air, very beautiful and original, able to capture and transmit light like a prism. Although I tend to roll my eyes at compilations, these latest three are interesting in their individual focus. I actually bought "Songs of a Prairie Girl" and "The Beginning of Survival" simply because I was intrigued by their focus. If nothing else, the new artwork is worth the price alone. The skating photos in SOAPGirl are wonderful. Reuben On 8/6/05, Gerald A. Notaro wrote: > > As one who originally spoke negatively of all these compilations, I'm > changing my mind. If you have all of the songs, you could always just burn a cd if you wanted to hear them together in the order of the comp, but it really is a beautiful package---easily worth what they're getting on ebay (I paid under $5). Did anyone hear a huge difference in the remix of Paprika Plains? I didn't, but I've played it only once.
