She's sending me her CD with the Joni cover and some other goodies as well. She also sent me the setlist for Sunday night's show as well as the instrumentation set-up. I expected to see the same old, same old, and of course there is a certain amount of that. (How could you do a Joni trib and not perform BYT, BSN, Woodstock?) but there are some big surprises as well. Since Les is going I won't share the specifics with the list yet, but I was very impressed. Les, you are in for quite an event - enjoy and report, sir. It's not that bad, but looks more like an emaciated blond Christina Ricci. I actually like "Paprika Plains" quite a bit. Not something I would hang in my home at this time, but I would've, at a younger age. I like the content, even if complete appreciation for the style is something I've left behind. Lori ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 30 Jul 2005 14:45:13 -0700 From: "Lindsay Moon" Subject: Joni's Horoscope in VF? The Vanity Fair horoscope from the August '05 issue cracked me up because it sounded so like Joni: "Scorpio Oct. 24-Nov. 21: Scorpios are not intellectuals, by any stretch of the imagination. They are guided instead by a being that dwells in the gut. When the ruler of their 3rd house is transiting their 9th, an angel of higher consciousness has been known to speak through Scorpios, giving them an almost mystical perspective on human behavior, their own included. Right now, you might be reaping the rewards of listening to your higher self. Unfortunately, that being is sometimes more like the creature from Alien -- and it's hard to tell which is which." Okay, she's admitted to not being an intellectual, "Ray's Dad's Cadillac" and her admission of reading nothing but comic books before she got to Mr. Kratzman's class are cases in point. "Mystical perspective on human behavior" ... name an album, any album. Is the "higher self" they're talking about her disdain of the music business and art in general? Hmmm. Just wanted to share that little amusement.
