The concern for me and my loved ones was just lovely to receive as it was when Steph and I were targeted just before Christmas. We live 40 miles north of London and all our friends in London are okay and getting on with it in the way I imagine our grandparents did in the Blitz. I find it so desperately sad that some people feel so unheard and angry that they have to blow themselves and others up to feel they have a voice. Those of you who know Steph and I will also know of our love and association with the Olympic Movement. A lot of people who have never been to an Olympics only see the money, drugs and the corruption (very much like the Ancient Games, really) but be on the streets when an Olympic flame passes by and I defy anyone to not be moved. For Steph and I it gives a message of Hope and of a better, unified world - so I am carrying my Olympic torch and my London 2012 pin with me today. Thank you all for being out there and being so lovely and it all comes because (here comes the Joni content) JONI IS BEST AND WE LOVE HER, Much love to all, Anita xx ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 8 Jul 2005 06:07:36 EDT From: Gertus@aol.com Subject: Re: london In a message dated 08/07/2005 08:02:29 GMT Standard Time, owner-joni-digest@smoe.org writes: > From: atel79@dsl.pipex.com > Subject: Re: london > > Has anyone heard from Martin? Lieve, are you OK? > Rafaele? anyone else? > Yes Azeem, I'm safe in the sticks as are all my family and friends although many were in London yesterday and two friends only missed being on an affected tube as the result of the mainline train from Crowborough being delayed due to a fault. My son had planned to travel to Heathrow by train and tube in order to catch a plane to South Africa where he begins a round the world trip. Luckily he managed to get there by road. It was only a matter of time before this happened, the only surprise being that it didn't happen sooner. Lucy is right in blaming our government and the American government in angering terrorists throughout the world. We will be paying the price for their actions for a very long time to come, I fear. Fortunately, the UK is very resilient and life goes on. Let's look forward to those Olympic Games in 20 12! The IRONIC singer loves the song's romantic descriptions of her beloved Canada, and played it incessantly during the 1990s to comfort her when she was feeling nostalgic. She says, "I played River a lot when I was living alone in LA in the mid-1990s. The fame thing had happened so quickly and I had to learn how to deal with being recognised, plus I was really missing Canada. "I'd lie on my bed and play that song over and over again and shed a tear. Joni Mitchell romanticises Canada in a way that I do privately as well. I feel a real kinship with her." 08/07/2005 01:48 www.contactmusic.com ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2005 #196 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
