I have never seen a DJRD songbook but I suspect that it will also be in standard tuning like most of those from that period... has anyone got the Hejira songbook to confirm this? However Marian from Vienna has made her own arrangements for guitar and is all on the jmdl website. For piano... hmmmm Much Joni Zoob - --- littlebreen@comcast.net wrote: > Oh yeah -- speaking of sheet music, my two attempts > to get Hejira sheet music on E-bay have not been > successful -- I guess I don't have the killer > instinct, or timing, to succeed on e-bay -- once I > got outbid about three minutes before the time was > up -- I'm *sure* it wasn't any of *us*... For piano... hmmmm The Hejira book is in standard tuning, but Walt is looking for piano. Even though there's no piano on Hejira, the album, there are both guitar chords and piano versions in most, if not all, of the Joni music books - the ones I've got anyway. I've found the piano parts for the Joni books generally better than the guitar parts, mainly because they guitar chords are in standard so they don't sound like Joni - but yet, in their own way, many of them are still quite good. The piano notation isn't exactly like Joni but it's close (to these ears) in many cases. I don't play piano that well, so you don't have to take my word for it. There's at least one piano transcript on the jmdl page. Without going & looking, I'm pretty sure it's "Blue" (the song.) I've never seen a DJRD book but I understand there was one. I haven't seen one on E-Bay but I'm trying to stay away from that place! I would also love to get my paws on on. The only published music books with any alt tunings are "For the roses" (not all songs, but a fair number); "Court and Spark" (only one in alt tuning); and then the more recent "Hits" and "Misses" books, which are written in tab (which I have trouble reading, but need to get used to.) The guitar tabs pages on the jmdl are far and away the best done and most comprehensive guitar pages I've seen anywhere in all my ramblings on the net looking for guitar chords. Any guitarist who wants to play like Joni needs to get over there. All the tuning and retuning will break many a string and drive you just a bit crazy, but the way the songs sound definitely makes up for that. Paz asked me to forward the following to the List. Many of you know Christina from the Northeast Jonifest and the duo from Denmark, Big Yellow Taxi. I've purposely eschewed the njc tag. I've been praying for our Christina and I would welcome joiners to the circle. I've been praying especially that no harm come to her voice, which is truly that of an angel. I'll ask Paz for Christina's email address and will post here later, should anyone want to send well-wishes. I bought a copy of Christina's latest demo when I was in New Orleans. It features her beautiful Danish soul renditions of "How Insensitive," "Fly Me to the Moon," My Funny Valentine" and "Lushlife." If you contact her, it might give her a lift if mentioned her work on it. Just a thought. - -Julius - ----- HI Julius- Please update the list with this message by forwarding it on to the list. I should be back up on my home account by tonight. I spoke with Sam Price (Christina?s husband) and found out that she has been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. While this sounds bad, he tells me that her prognosis is quite good. With proper (non invasive) treatment like surgery or chemo, she will have a 100% recovery. Because of our wonderful health system in the U.S. they thought it better for her to return to Denmark for treatment. Her visa has expired so he says she is not eligible to return to the U.S. for a couple of years. Jack and I have an immigration attorney that we asked to help them. I will let you know when I hear some more news. Best of all in the book is a faithful reproduction of the entire piano part to Paprika Plains! best to all, Walt-- Let the walls go tumbling down Falling on the ground And all the dogs go running free The wild and gentle dogs Kenneled in me > > --- Jamie Zubairi wrote: > > > Hi Walt > > > > The sheet music to DJRD (the song anyway) is > > included > > on the 'Joni Mitchell Anthology' book but is in > > standard tuning.
