So here we will find Joni's writing in company with Coleridge, Shelley, Blake, Whitman, Eliot, Lawrence, Pound, Ginsberg and Snyder. (hmmm, a largely dead bunch of white guys!) I'm dying to learn which lyric Paglia may have chosen (without actually having to buy the book!) Which of Joni's lyics would Paglia rate among a handful al all-time best poems? 'Empty, Try Another'? Die no more, Chuck. It's "Woodstock." (I'm sure Camille has her reasons for chosing that. Lord knows we all have our reasons for liking whatever Joni thing we like...) - --Smurf, who would have chosen "Dancin' Clown" just ro piss off Muller... Tired of spam? Yahoo! Piano: Herbie Hancock Bass: Ira Coleman (also on "Gershwin's World") Drums: Brian Blade Jim np: "The Man I Love" on the afore-mentioned album. Wayne Shorter is on this track; he plays an honest to goodness solo. When Joni produces, she gives him only enough room for tiny, 4 note phrases, between lyrics. I think we hear more interesting stuff from him when he has some room. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Apr 2005 13:54:36 -0700 From: Randy Remote Subject: trivial joni content The Portugese issue of DJRD (LP) was blue and white rather than the blue and burnt orange US & UK versions. I know somebody who is going to California tomorrow and says he plans to visit the restaurant where Joni hangs out. He says it was a Mexican restaurant in the 70s.
