Well, if you did, I was the guy standing right beside you backstage as Joni sat on the edge of the stairs going up to the stage (I think). I recall there were only two or three of us who managed to get backstage (it wasn't difficult) and one person asked for a kiss and got it! Joni borrowed my pen to sign autographs but didn't give it back. It was the second time I saw Joni and the first time I talked to her. I'll never forget it. In the early days, Joni kept getting dopey and inflamatory interview questions like, "Is rock & roll big enough for both Judy Collins *AND* you? Does Joan Baez deserve her success?" Joni was explaining herself from the beginning, except when she was talking to the rare music buff who "got it", like Gene Shay. 10 years later, she was asked if she was threatened by Madonna. Now, she's answering the same question (but she's not as diplomatically) vis Shawn, Alanis, and (especially) Jewel. Later this year, they'll ask, "Do you wish you could wear a ruby in your belly button... like Joss Stone?" On and on Sinerely, Jim L'Hommedieu Covington, KY Bob Sartorius said in part, >Joni understands Jerry's point on an intellectual level, but on an emotional level does not like others' (lesser) work being compared to hers in any way, while the others who were inspired by Joni do not want to have to feel compared (unfavorably) to her, Like I said, IMO its a bit of a Circle Game.> ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Apr 2005 19:26:38 -0400 From: "Lama, Jim L'Hommedieu" Subject: Here's a kick, 100% JC Go to http://www.jmdl.com/lyrics/lyricsearchresults.cfm and search for: "on and on" I got 152 hits, from an unreleased song "Blue On Blue" to one of the last songs she's released, "Love Puts On A New Face". I had a hankering to listen to two old Ferron albums but can't find them on CD or electronically anywhere. The albums are 'Testimony' and my personal favorite, 'Shadows on a Dime.' It looks like they're out of print and unavailable except as old vinyl or tape copies. I think the label (Lucy Records) is out of business. Are they? I looked for copies on eBay and in on line used record stores, but came up empty handed. If you know where I can find a copy of either on CD or electronically, please reply to me off list. Thanks. ====================== "It better be funny;.. In fact, they are having a hell of a time selling tickets to this thing. I can't believe it, but I am wrestling about going to it, since Joni's "appearance" is questionable. First, the big news is that her nodules means she will never sing again, according to the paper, and then I've read they will do some tribute, and the centennial website said she's a cohost - but thye removed her from the host list this evening. check these links: http://www.canada.com/entertainment/story.html?id=11415f24-56bd-45fe-9247-a148a11bafbd and www.centennialgala.com Anyway, I am dying to go, but really don't like anyone else on the line-up, and what if Joni isn't even visable?? Nobody wants to go with me, I just bought Jann Arden tickets, and The Wiggles tickets for the kids, so I dunno - $250 for what may be a 2 minute Joni moment is a little much - but I also don't want to miss her at all, so I'll hsve to decide by morning what the hell I am doing... anyway, that's all I know for now, Rob ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2005 #117 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
