Thanks Catherine for your eagle-eyed transcription...mine were too tired after my weekend roadtrip. When I saw that item on ebay & read the lyrics, I immediately wondered if that was an early draft of one of the many "lost" Joni songs*, so a big thanks to Mr. Gary too for his unfailing familiarity with them! Have a knockout Monday all. I would love to hear the melody! Have been a busy one. re: Ludwig's Tune and my comments - I am really glad it seemed to make sense to you guys. And Jim, I think you nailed it when you said the "you" in you're too raw, etc. is indeed the listener, but I think only if she's managed to rope the listener in. Nuri, same with your "everyone should make music" take on it. I think she is imparting that feeling, but only if she cares about you. And if you listen deeply to her - I think she cares. Again tho - those are just my feelings about it. The neat thing for me was that the last 4 days or so (haven't seen todays) the articles of the day on jmdl.com have sort of "spoken to" things I was wondering about...so thats been really cool. I didn't get to listen to Joni all weekend and I'm jonesing a bit. :) Em ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Dec 2004 19:07:19 -0500 From: Deb Messling Subject: re: A newly uncovered Joni song? Rats, I promised myself I wouldn't spend more than $6,999 on Joni Mitchell memorabilia - otherwise I'd bid on this. Did anybody see the seller's response to a question from Simon Montgomery? I quote: "I have a letter from Joni dated December 30th, 1966 describing some tours she was on the the troubles she was having with Chuck Mitchell, re his problems of getting into the Folk Scene at that time." Do you think any of use would be interested in that letter? - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Deb Messling -^..^- messling@enter.net - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Dec 2004 21:58:15 -0500 (EST) From: Catherine McKay Subject: Re: Lama and Nuriel! comments on Ludwig's Tune --- Em wrote: > re: Ludwig's Tune and my comments - I am really glad > it seemed to make > sense to you guys. > And Jim, I think you nailed it when you said the > "you" in you're too > raw, etc. is indeed the listener, but I think only > if she's managed to > rope the listener in. I always figure that, even when Joni is speaking to "you", she is also speaking to "me", as in "I", as in Joni. I think she's just as tired of the silent night as Ludwig (Silent night - could be on her Christmas album which I hope she doesn't make...) > I didn't get to listen to Joni all weekend and I'm > jonesing a bit. You weren't Jonesing, your were Joni-ing. Could the guy not just make a friggin' photocopy of it or something? If Joni knew, do you think she'd buy it back from him? Would she be pissed off that bits of her private life were being auctioned off? ===== Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Dec 2004 02:24:34 -0500 From: ljirvin@jmdl.com Subject: Today's Library Links: December 14 On December 14 the following article was published: 1975: "Mitchell, Young and the Decade of Despair" - Los Angeles Times http://www.jmdl.com/articles/view.cfm?id=569 ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2004 #355 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
