Anyone who ever fell for a Rock & Roll man (or a Rock & Roll woman, or, for that matter, any other ego maniac writer, painter, actor, dancer and so on) and wound up with a broken heart - would you please share your tragical story with us? Being the starter of this tragical thread i'm afraid i've never flipped my hair myself (sad but true) and can only share someone else's story with you, an event i witnessed. (In case you have never experienced it yourself and can only share others stories, feel free, imho, to do so - we're honouring the Rock & Roll men's victims!) When i was 16, my best friend was a girl named Ziv. She was 16 too and a virgin. Every day, after school, and having spent several hours at home, we would then rush to a new wave club, a giagantic cellar fiiled with crowd and shiny lights and loud music, where anyone who considered themselves hip were dancing and drinking and smoking and sniffing till the break of dawn. The name of that club was "The Baron", and though it was in our northern town Haifa, it soon became an all-Israeli pilgirmage, and it got so popular that new wave bands from all over the world wanted to perform on it's stage. (Nina Hagen and S. & The Banshees among them) While i was only interested in dancing my teenage depression out off my body, Ziv, a beautiful girl who everyone fell in love with her, was only interested in checking out the bands. Ziv made a vow that she would loose her virginity only for the true love of a Rock & Roll man, and was constantly looking for the best boy in every band. And then she found him. Hadar Goldman, a handsome man who was the lead-singer of a British-Israeli new wave band called "Siam". Back then, "Siam" were very well known in Europe, and Goldman was considered as one of the hottest names in the new wave scene. Ziv went to every "Siam" gig and wrote Goldman heart-melting love letters. One day he gave her a call and told her that he fell in love with her from the very first night he spotted her in the front row, and that he wanted her to be his girlfriend with an option of soon becoming his wife. Ziv, just to let you know, was not amazed or shocked at all. She was one of the most "requested" girls around, and as she saw it, him asking her to be "The love of his life" was basicly her doing him a favor. Several nights later "Siam" had a gig at "The Baron". Ziv and "her husband" wrote eachother love letters and had long-distant calls twice a day, but that night Goldman told her that he bought her an engagiment diamond ring and that he wanted her to move in with him. Ziv then went to the club dressed as Cinderella and holding a suitcase, and i, being promoted from her best friend to her official Best-man, was there with her. I'll never forget that night. "Siam" were playing inside to their fanatic fans and to all those girls-in-black who addored them and worshiped their lead singer, but the princess and i stayed outside and waited for the "Groom" to appear. The gig ended and Goldman stepped into the parking lot where his limousine was about to take him and the love of his life to Tel-Aviv's airport then off to his villa in London. Ziv said "see you soon, Nuri", and marched into the limousine. I waved her bye-bye and waited for the car to hit the road, but the car didn't, and velvet curtains were drawn over it's windows. 5 minutes later, the door of the car was opened, Ziv and her suitcase were thrown out of it straight into the parking lot floor, and the limousine took off. Her hair was messed up, her dress was stained, her fingers were trembling with no diamond ring on them. We walked silently to the bus station, waited together all night, then came the morning bus and drove us to school. And that's where the story about my best friend Ziv and her virginty ends. Just to let you know, "Siam" split aftewards, Goldman lost his intire fortune, and local news papers reported that he's a homeless who's wondering the streets of London, playing guitar and asking passers-by to buy him a bottle of whiskey. So there you have it, friends, and if you're not afraid of sharing your own "Blonde in the bleachers" exprience with us, then i hope you would. Love you all, Nuriel Yahoo! Attendance is limited to 60, so reserve fast Been busy planning the event, and playing some Joni of course. The time has come to make definite reservations as the nearest B&Bs must be booked this month. I remind you the dates: August 13-15th, 2005. We've calculated the budget, the cost for the 3 day event amounts to 165 euros ($220-230 or #110). This includes: * Breakfast (including for those of you lodging in B&B's off-site) * All meals, french of course. Probably will have a buffet all day long. * Cook and helpers on duty * All equipment rental for the event (won't bore you with details) ACCOMODATIONS: A) Camping on premises: we can supply 5 tents for 2 people, so 10 campers max. Cost is 30 euros($40) total per person for all 3 nights B) Bungalows on premises: Cost is 45 euros ($60) per person for all 3 nights * lower bungalow has 4 beds * upper bungalow has 1 double bed * mill has 3 beds Naturally, those spaces are on 1st come 1st served basis (Ashara and Jerry Noraro have already reserved) C) B&B's in nearby villages: All daily rates include breakfast, may be possible to pay about 5 euros less without it since we will be providing breakfast on site. 1) Mme Tavart in Davejean (nearest village): 1 room for 3: 40 euros ($53)/room 1 room for 4: 50 euros 2) Mme Le Franc in Villerouge Termenes: 1 room with 1 double + 1 single bed: 39 euros if 2 people, 50 euros if 3. 3) Mme Bizouerne in Le Roc de Golta (near Villerouge Termenes) 1 room with 1 double bed: 43 euros 2 rooms with 2 single beds: 43 euros 1 room with 3 single beds: 64 euros All rooms have sink & shower, toilets on the same floor. 4) M. Houalet in Felines Termenes: no details available D) La Fargo in St Pierre des Champs: a charming hotel with great food and gorgeous surroundings. Rooms are very nice too. Near to where I live when I'm in the area, about 20 minutes drive to Jonifest. 64-71 euros/room + breakfast 6 euros/person. Check their website www.chez.com/lafargo/, click on the UK flag at the bottom for english. In addition to the hotel info there is plenty of info about the area. Click on "directions" for general travel info. Let me know if you want any of these and I'll make the booking for you. RESERVATIONS: Reservations for the event and for lodging can be made to me. La Fargo hotel reservations can either be made to me or directly (mention Jonifest). I'm not sure what is customary in terms of deposit. Those who can pay the 165 euros event fee now are welcome to do so. For those who would rather pay a deposit, I suppose 100 euros ($135) will do. Overseas bank transfers are expensive, so I'm offering the following options: * USA festers can wire the funds to a U.S. account at Bank of America. The account is under a cousin's name, this way he'll make 1 lump sum transfer to me and you will have no fees. I'm responsible if he runs to Havana with your deposits (LOL). * EURO + rest of the world: wire transfer to me in Euros. Please email me off list for bank account details.
