I'll be looking for you decked out in New Orleans Next year! Steve >>> "mia ortlieb" 11/09/04 08:31PM >>> Last Sunday, I nabbed the opportunity to meet my very first JMDL'ers ever - Kerry and Steve P! It is so wild to actually see the faces and hear the voices of "live, in person" people I had only known previously on a virtual level! JMDL people rule!! Steve's band 'Rhythm and Torch' played at the M & M Club in Milwaukee last Sunday night on Joni's B-day. The band was terrific, and Steve is an incredible multi-talented musician (but of course you guys who have seen him at Jonifest already knew that) - he sang and played both keyboard and guitar throughout the evening. Unfortunately, I arrived late and missed them playing 'Hissing of Summer Lawns', but I did catch them play great covers of other Joni songs, such as 'Night Ride Home,' 'Sex Kills,' 'Big Yellow Taxi,' and 'Two Grey Rooms.' They also played some of their own original tunes and covered other artists, such as Annie Lennox; and Steve's solo performance of 'California Dreamin'' just blew me away! What a perfect way to celebrate Joni's B-day! Yes indeed, David - it's on Volume 12 - boy that seems like a long long time ago. It's a bit odd in that he starts it with a monologue about a car going down the road or something to that effect. Thanks for bringing it up. Quite an actress too and very skillful at spinning yarns while retuning her guitar. Funny to hear her describe her early original songs as happy. Thanks so much for posting this link, Michael.
