Hi Nuriel, I think the chances are slim that I will be going. Hello Joni and Jonifest fans everywhere Donna Binkley and Michael Paz announce the future of Jonifest 2005. We have been working over the last few weeks to come up with a new concept for Jonifest and a way to stretch out our time together to make it even more attractive for the people who are coming from far away. This is our concept: Friday, November 11, 2005 PreFest gathering in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 11, 2005 Dinner and informal music at the home of Michael Paz in Destrehan, Louisiana. Transportation will be provided to and from downtown New Orleans where guests can stay at the Le Cirque Hotel (a lovely boutique Hotel) on Lee Circle ( 8 blocks from the French Quarter). Room rates for a double will be approx $79.95 + tax. Round trip transportation will be provided my limo bus for approx $15 per head and there will be two trips coming and going from the Paz household to the hotel. " If we get too many people to be comfy in Paz's house we will make another plan for this night. Saturday, November 12, 2005 Early evening Prefest gourmet dinner out on the town of New Orleans with Chef Adolfo Garcia at Rio Mar Restaurant. The price of all inclusive dinner will be $65 per person and include five courses including tapas, soup, salad, main course, wine and gratuity. Pazfest Too!!! Yes I said I would never do it again but I lied. I will be have some help this time and will delegate some of the responsibilities to some dear friends including Mr. Howie Kaplan the owner of Howlin' Wolf . This will be an evening of music by mostly National and New Orleans artists, and WILL include some of the artists from the JMDL. The format will change from the previous time so that the flow is quicker and we can have more music. Tentative times are 9pm-2am. $10 Donation to benefit the Ruth Paz Foundation Burn Clinic. This would also be the CD Release party for the long awaited PazFest Volume 3 disc. And YES we will be recording that night as well so I guess there will be a Volume or so to come. You can go to http://carnival.com/Ship_Detail.aspx?shipCode=CQ to check out the huge beautiful boat. JMDL Member performances will be scheduled in one of the many entertainment venues on board and we will have access to PA equipment, piano, etc. I will be bringing any other equipment like a 88 key digital piano, drums, etc. at no extra charge. I will be taking a tour of the ship on December 5 to try and scope out places for us to gather and have parties as well as private areas for us to congregate informally. I am told there are many places that would lend themselves to hang out and play acoustic guitars etc. During the day we could have run of any of the entertainment night spots for our own use of parties, rehearsals, workshops, etc. I thought it might be fun to offer up a night of participation from other people on the cruise that could come in and perform Joni songs etc. This thought could be developed in a Joni Karaoke, other cruise folk participation, etc. type deal. This might draw out some of the closet singers we have in our group as well. We would still have a raffle and still do a fundraiser for the JMDL and still be interested in doing workshops etc, but there is not point in going into all of that at this time till we find out the number of people that want to do this so we can see if it is feasible. The idea of doing this as a fundraiser came up cause the Cruise Specialist asked if we were a 501 ) 3 (which the RPF is). Carnival is very generous to do something like the matching funds thing. If anyone feels uncomfortable with this arrangement we do not have to do this part. We can eliminate my charity all together if people think that we should not do that. If you are interested in participating with this trip please send an email to me at michaelpaz@aol.com as well as djb@binkleybarfield.com so we can get an accurate count of those interested. Also please go to jonifest2005cruise@yahoogroups.com to sign up for the discussion and planning of this trip. In order to get this pricing and enable us to plan properly we will open this up for pre-registration for the period of one week. After that we will keep the discussion in the yahoo groups list and get going with deposits etc. Once again our Cruise Consultant Monica Andrews is fabulous and will set up a web site for sign ups etc. and take off a lot of the pressure of dealing with all of that from the JMDL volunteer pool.
