May our sins be forgiven and let us all strive for peace and understanding in this troubled world we share. Elms does a little feature each Friday called Whats all the fuss about - guy called Alan Robinson comes in and natters about whoever it is and they play a few songs by the artist in question, and get listeners to ring in with their top 3s, which are then totted up into an overall Top 3, announced the following week. This week, yes, it was our Joan. Alan Robinson is obviously knowledgeable and enthusiastic about a wide range of music, but he didnt cover himself in glory when he admitted he didnt know what her original name was, and then said that not many of her songs had been covered!!! (care to comment, Mr Muller, or shall I just send the lads round to him now?). Still it was good to hear them talking about her with such respect, and to hear: Big Yellow Taxi, Help Me, In France They Kiss On Main Street, Coyote, Dreamland and Dry Cleaner From Des Moines. Well, I suppose we shouldn't be TOO rough on the chap, Azeem...after all, he did choose her to profile on the show, after all. Perhaps he'll wander along one day to the JMDL and see the long long long list of recordings and change his tune. As for Caroline Lavelle's ACOY, it's a good one and was produced by William Orbit if I remember correctly. She actually released a couple different mixes of it, a nice trip-hop sound. It seems so strange...Joni released a new CD this week, and I haven't seen one post from anyone who bought it. Such a contrast; when TTT came out I was in the store and bought 3 copies. As much as I wasn't keen on the idea, I was still excited to get BSN & T'log (new recordings of old songs, better than nuthin') the day they came out. Don't have TBOS & won't, and Dreamland didn't do anything to get me in the store either. It just feels weird to have a new Joni release comes out & no one has commented on picking it up. Not that I'm surprised. There's some reviews on Aamazon if you're interested in seeing them, but be forewarned - they're none too kind: _http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002MPQ50/qid%3D1095469205/sr%3D11-1/ ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/104-1120539-4298369_ (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002MPQ50/qid=1095469205/sr=11-1/ref=sr_11_1/104-1120539-4298369) Bob NP: Bjork, "Triumph Of A Heart" ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Sep 2004 21:02:41 EDT From: SCJoniGuy@aol.com Subject: Anyone Dreaming? I guess my feeling is that its not a "new" Joni album - and that since there are so many I still don't have..I'd rather just concentrate on occiasionally picking up the original CD's that contained the tracks. I guess for the folks that have every single release though, it *is* a new "item".
