Ivan skipped us. No rain at all according to my one neighbor who stayed. About 20 mile an hour winds which is pretty normal. The people in Plaquemines Parish were not so lucky, but still it could have been much worse. Gulf Shores, Alabama where we often go for long weekends at the beach is totally devastated and took the brunt of the storm as well as Pensacola. My cousin who lives in Mobile was also spared. My prayers go out to all of those folks who are affected by the devasation and prayers to those still in it's path. Giselle and Cindy, DUCK, and get to higher ground. The rain this thing is carrying is amazing. Two more storms out behind this one which is really frightning. We (Freda, Mikey, Julian, Kitty Tom Paz, and me) evacuated early yesterday morning and went to Baton Rouge to stay with some friends. A couple of other refugees showed up their house as well with several dogs in tow. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to drive a drive that normally takes 1 hour. It was a hot sunshiny day so the kids went for s swim when we got there. I took everyone out for Mexican food so we would not have to cook and clean for such a big crowd. We of course had martinis and margaritas like any goof hurricane party should. Ended up in the hot tub and then early to bed. We got the all clear this am at around 8am and drove home. Traffic was amazing! So many people left the city over a period of 2 1/2 days and now everyone is trying to come home today. Glad we got an early start. The house was fine. A few branches down was about all we found. The kids and I unboarded the house and cleaned up the yard. Carried the computers, guitars, keyboards, and other studio stuff downstairs and hooked everything back up. WE ARE NOW OPEN FOR BUSINESS AGAIN AND WELCOME ALL TOURISTS AND WAYWARD TYPES (LIKE YA'LL). Thanks so much to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I should take the time to answer each one of you, but instead I will do it here and get back to transferring performances from DAT to computer so the rest of you can enjoy them. Love to you all. Q: Bill Clinton's daughter was named after "Chelsea Morning," a song written by which musician? Here I am going over my 5th graders Social Studies homework for spelling errors this evening. The bottom of the page wasn't completed and 'somehow' one of the questions caught my eye. I asked my son why it wasn't completed and he said it was just extra credit! Yep, I made him do it ........I said, "You better know who this is!" I'm happy to report he answered correctly!! Then he didn't spell Joni's name correctly so I made him erase it and do it over. He usually complains when I do this but this time he just laughed and whined, "Mom". Then it was spelled correctly but pretty sloppy. I told him he better not turn in any paper with Joni's name sloppy like that. He laughed again with, "Mommmm" as he 'perfected' her name on the paper! He knew there was no way he'd win this one. ha!
