I'm so in love with that song right now, words and music. I find it extremely successful. When Joni says that different instrumentations and ways of production invoke different "colors", I usually can't see it. To me its mostly just murky. But on that cut its just brilliant. I wish that song went on and on. I wish it went on and on kinda like SD's "AJA". I would listen! I would love to retreat into the somewhat familiar (to me as a painter) world of her turbulent indigo. But it's really neat, too, as a short little "bloodied in the wheatfields" kind of comment too. BLESS her for that. Makes me want to haul the old 6 string out and give it a whirl. ;) Em - --- SCJoniGuy@aol.com wrote: > **I don't know this singer, but I wonder why can't people pick songs > other than the obvious Joni songs? > > Believe me, I feel your pain, Mike. Well, they are singers trying to sell records. And let's face it, unless you are buying a record from a well known song writer, most of the buying public buy songs they already know. Faced with that, it is more likely they would choose BSN over Beat of Black Wings. This information can be easily discerned with one click: http://www.jmdl.com/covers/mostcovered.cfm The Top 15 are always posted on the JMDL Covers page - I only included 8 in my earlier post as the instrumentals of Mingus' "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" melody aren't technically Joni covers, but I still include them. And of course, some of the (40) GPPH covers do include Joni's lyric so they're legit Joni covers. Thanks to Les, the JMDL is an amazing source of information; would be even more so if Smurf could keep up with Fiction. I've already acquired lots of good stuff from Les and Richard (because they've got the best stuff, IMO). The more of us there are, the more sharin' can be done. ===== Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We all live so close to that line, and so far from satisfaction ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2004 #206 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
