Bob ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jul 2004 11:36:32 -0400 From: Jerry Notaro Subject: Joni Cover Seems the Joni covers keep coming from Broadway. Susan Egan, star of Beauty and the Beast, Triumph of Love (with Joni lover Betty Buckley) and Thoroughly Modern Millie has a new cd called Coffee House. Looks like a good mix of titles. Notice #1! Track Listing: 1. BOTH SIDES NOW (Joni Mitchell) 2. TAYLOR (Marcy Heissler/Zina Goldrich) 3. OH VERY YOUNG (Cat Stevens) 4. SOMEONE TO LAY DOWN BESIDE ME (Karla Bonoff) 5. FRENCH WALTZ (Adam Mitchell) 6. ACROSS 9TH AVENUE (Christopher McGovern) 7. WHERE IN THE WORLD IS MY PRINCE (Jerry Herman) 8. I CAN9T BELIEVE MY HEART (Alan Menken/David Zippel) 9. ROSES (Janis Ian) duet with Terrence Mann 10. OH HOW I LOVED YOU (Marcy Heissler/Zina Goldrich) 11. WUTHERING HEIGHTS (Kate Bush) 12. THERE ARE NO WORDS (David Evans/Faye Greenberg) 13. SING ME A HAPPY SONG (Georgia Stitt) Jerry ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jul 2004 12:16:33 -0400 From: Jerry Notaro Subject: Susan Egan You can hear Susan Egan9s BSN at: http://www.susanegan.net/Sounds/Both%20SIDES%20clip.mp3 Jerry ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jul 2004 14:17:53 EDT From: SCJoniGuy@aol.com Subject: Re: Susan Egan Say, whaddya think yer doin' Notaro, taking over my job? :~) Seriously, I'm delighted that the Broadway and cabaret stars of NYC are picking up on Joni as a standards composer just as they consider Gershwin, Porter, Rodgers/Hart, etc. Almost all of the recent recordins I've heard have been just marvelous. His website descibes the ACOY cover as a "stripped-down version", but I would say that the VAST majority of them are, Sloan's heavy metal version notwithstanding. Tom's Cover becomes #1539 And he's artist #1212 And once again, 2004 is proving to be a banner year for Joni covers. And don't forget Richie Havens' Woodstock coming out this Tuesday! R2 have been playing 'This Boy' for a couple of weeks now and it's really grown on me. Sounds a little like Coldplay and maybe Damien Rice. Nothing all that new I think, but the song is really nice and he sings with a lot of passion. Anyways I checked on amazon.co.uk to see when the single is out (19th July UK ) and 'A Case Of You' is a b-side!! Very underrated, at least here in NAmerica. I wonder what she thinks of the music business? LOL! She seems to be a very private person and doesn't say much about anything, from what I've seen/heard. ===== Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We all live so close to that line, and so far from satisfaction ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jul 2004 02:09:31 -0400 From: ljirvin@jmdl.com Subject: Today's Library Links: July 17 On July 17 the following article was published: 1998: "Dylan, Mitchell, and Morrison a Hit and Miss Event" - Goldmine (Review - Concert) http://www.jmdl.com/articles/view.cfm?id=114 ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2004 #202 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
