Vincenzo From: Randy Remote Subject: Re: Joni Videos "Celebration at Big Sur", and Joni performs a solo rendition of "Woodstock", and leads the CSNY boys through The Youngblood's "Get Together". She probably does another song, too, I can't remember. They show this movie occasionally on cable channels. It also features CSN&Y, John Sebastian, and others. From: SCJoniGuy@aol.com Subject: Re: Joni Videos The video "Joni On The BBC" is a collection of classic stuff and has been shared a lot on the JMDL. It's nothing that was ever officially released commercially, and like Randy says that's too bad. But I do have a copy and have made many copies over the years. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tired of spam? I saw Peter Pan because another movie was sold out during Christmas. I was leary because it is one of my favorite stories. It was by far the year's most overlooked movie. It is a marvel, and very true to the original book by Barrie. And you are right. The actress who played Wendy, who ws terrific, could easily play Joni. We'll have to find out if she smokes! We found the sexual overtones of the film worrying considering the age of the characters. It left a rather unpleasant feeling with us and we didn't finish watching the film. - -- bw colin http://www.btinternet.com/~tantraapso/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Jun 2004 09:51:56 -0500 (GMT-05:00) From: david sapp Subject: new Joni DVD According to Rolling Stone Daily: "Refuge of the Roads," a JONI MITCHELL concert DVD from a 1983 show, will be released on August 24th peace, david ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Jun 2004 10:31:59 -0500 From: "Donna Binkley" Subject: Re: [NortheastJonifest] Attending Jonifest Woo hoo!! Yeah, I should be there: signed up, about to post waiver form, should cough the cash (mostly) at the weekend. Strings'll be similarly sorted soon also. This'll be Joni-list-synchronicity then. Is it just me????... or is this funeral of Ronald Reagan like the biggest freakin' deal you've ever seen? If this were Jimmy Carter, say, who had passed, would there be this "to-do"? I think the grand scale of this was engineered by the republicans, to invoke "emotions" now before the elections. All this about Reagan "the great one" ushering in a "new day" for America and all, and its being pumped up by all this press. I recently re-read "Generation of Swine" by Hunter Thompson, and it reminded me of just how villanous that Reagan administration was! How very bad the Iran Contra clusterf__k was. I don't recall Nixon being given this royal funeral. To me Nixon isn't particularly more heinous than RR. I mean, I don't "hate" Reagan. He's someone's old-fart conservative dad for chrissakes..."farting" around with much bigger stakes though. He turned this country back republican and that doesn't make me real happy. I was just wondering if the thought had occured to anyone else, that the "pageantry" in this Reagan send off is perhaps designed to appeal to the emotions and perhaps get a vote or 2 extra for the GOP??? Kinda like W landing on that aircraft carrier...pageantry, for our "royalty". I am offended. Not that a human is receiving a funeral, but that its being twisted to cause "nostalgia" for the party that I REALLY don't want in office anymore. Anyone?? My memory of that "Celebration at Big Sur" is that none of the songs is complete. None of Joni's and none of CSN. I think filmmakers have to have one kind of clearance/permission to excerpt a song, another kind of clearance/permission to include an entire song, and yet another kind of clearance/permission to put a song on an audio-only soundtrack recording. It was more of a documentary without a budget than a feature film, so, no permissions. All the best, Jim From: Doug Boudreau >Yes Yes Brian. I too am interested in any Joni videos as well. "Painting With Words and Music", is currently available for purchase on VHS & DVD. My favorite among Joni's drummers has to be Brian Blade who appears on the PWWaM video. I think he's very smart, using a light touch in places where most "drummers" wouldn't go at all. He adds textures that are normally supplied by a "percussionist" in bigger rock bands. The other two are both out of print so I'll dub them in stereo, onto a (full) 2-hour VHS tape for anyone in the US who sends me a blank VHS tape and return postage. For those outside the US, we can work something out. So, contact me off-list at jlamadoo@fuse.net if you want to see the videos of "Sweet Bird" and "Dancin' Clown", a dynamite performace of "For Free", and more.
