But his Columbia records of the 50's and 60's is incredibly ground breaking. I have a hard time listening to "Concierto De Aranjuez" without falling apart; Kind of Blue; and the 60's quintet. Oh my god magnum !!! The 60's band with Dave Holland,Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams, and Wayne Shorter simply blows my mind. It's not for everyone but , those who can handle Joni's left of centre material should be able to handle it on a good day. At times it's like a scary monster,at others it's a beautiful calming ballad, but always demanding your full attention. It's some of the most intense music I've ever heard in my life. Talk about music as art; it's rather abstract, but not to the extent of Ornette Coleman; whom I can't quite grasp. Well not yet anyway.
