I met her in Dallas back in !979 her manager was a good friend of my friend. We had dinner so I took her Yellow roses to welcome her to Texas. She started to cry and tell me she was going through a messy divorce and how sweet to get flowers. At the time she was on "The Gays of Our Lives" and sang on the show a lott of the time. She has a beautiful voice and quite strong. We then went to Muscular Discrophy Telethon and when she was up she thanked me and sang "Don't Cry Out loud" for me, it was quite a special evening. If not, never mind:~) Peace Mingus 11. Patty Weaver - Both Sides Now: I like this one; Patty's got a dynamo Broadway kind of voice, and she does enough unique things with the vocal arrangement to make her take on the franchise swing. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - --------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Apr 2004 06:56:27 EST From: MINGSDANCE@aol.com Subject: The big 50! L. A. Confidential Dan Peek used to sing with America. He wrote this: "To our immediate right a huge waterfall roared down a steep incline disappearing from view. As we stepped forward my breath caught as we seemed to be hovering in space. The distant horizon of the land and a tantalizing glimpse of sea shimmered in the afternoon sunlight. The house was very modern in the cozy wood and glass California mode. It clung to the cliff and cascaded down below us, split into several levels, all glassed and open to the mouthwatering views. Looking again to our right was an amazing view of the swimming pool, the waterfall pouring into the deep end, the whole flagged by huge stones with redwood furniture scattered about like large tiddlywinks. The pool seemed suspended in space, with short glass walls bordering, allowing that awesome view full rein. The view was made even more amazing by the fact that a young, beautiful blonde woman lay full length on one of the loungers, sunning herself in the warm dry air. . . . ." "This Lorelei figure turned her face up to us and squinted, saying with total innocence, "Hi, I'm Joni Mitchell, you must be AMERICA. David said to say he'll be a little late. You must be awfully hot and tired. The water's great. You should go for a swim." "Uh, see Miss Mitchell, we don't have our suits. You don't need them much where we just came from." Said Dewey. "Call me Joni. You don't need suits. In fact I've never seen anyone wear a suit in this pool." I'm sure at this point we all thought we had been. . .. " I won't post it all here. Have you seen this? My sister Annette sent me this yesterday. She loves the band America (Ventura Highway, etc.) and so do I. Go to the link above for the full story. Maybe this is at Joni Mitchell.com, I don't know. She is returning the donations because she was not able to make headway with this. Thought you all might like to know. Hugs, Ashara Any more details on what went wrong? Lack of funds? Unable to get local officials or leaders on board? Certainly this project is do-able.
