If you all know, Harry died in a plane crash shortly afterwards. Peace everyone Steve >> Steve; I'm certain Harry Chapin died in a freak car crash on the Long Island Expressway, on his way to another charity benefit performance in NYC. It happened very near where I live; he was born in NYC and lived on Long Island but raised millions for charities. Kenny B _________________________________________ Hey Kenny, In my bio that is listed as my favorite movie as well. The book is great because it talks about how she went into a pet store to let all of the canaries free. I knew Ruth Gordon's sister who taught at UMKC back in the 70's when I went to the Art Institute of Kansas City, her name was Lillian and she was a lot like Ruth. She said that that was one of Ruth's favorite rolls because she felt like she was playing herself in the movie. I think it should be a requirement in school for everyone to see that movie. I literally had my hand in it...that was the picture of me and Joni, taken after I met her in 1998. Pearl (WirlyPearl) took the classic shot, for which I'll always be grateful. Steve P. took it and did all kinds of monstrous things to it, including the shot you now see on Jerry's profile. Larry K? Really Jerry, he's a little wimpy thang. NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Singer-songwriter Ray Davies of the Kinks was shot and wounded in the leg while chasing two thieves who snatched a purse from a woman he was walking with in New Orleans on Sunday night, police confirmed Monday. Police said Davies, 59, and the woman were walking near the edge of the French Quarter, near the intersection of Burgundy Street and Esplanade Avenue around 8:30 p.m. when the theft and shooting occurred. Davies was treated and released at a hospital, Capt. Marlon Defillo, a police spokesman, said. One suspect was captured within hours of the shooting and another was being sought. The woman was not hurt. Police would not release her identity. The shooting happened blocks away from Bourbon Street, which was awash with people in town for Sunday night's Sugar Bowl, a national college championship game between LSU and Oklahoma. Police were stationed on every corner of the party area and were able to respond quickly to the shooting, Defillo said. The area of the shooting was relatively quiet, however, Defillo said. It is a largely residential area on the border of the French Quarter and the Faubourg Marigny area. Less than a week earlier, Davies, along with singer-guitarist Eric Clapton, received royal honors in London. They were named Commanders of the Order of the British Empire at a ceremony on New Year's Eve. The Kinks, part of the 1960s British invasion, had a string of hits including "You Really Got Me," "Sunny Afternoon," "All Day and All of the Night" and "Lola." Davies founded the band, known for its hard-edged, guitar-driven sound and witty lyrics, with his brother Dave. I have cleaned them patted them and tried everything you mentioned and even talked sweet to them before I slammed them onto the concrete in front of my house from the second story window (Letterman style). They still don't work, but damn I feel so much better now. The one I am currently using had a problem of freezing at a very critical moment in any given movie. Damnedest thing I ever saw. One time I even had to finish a movie on the computer cause I could not get it to come back on. Lately the current machine has been behaving itself much better since I killed the other two on the front drive way. Btw I totally Love Harold and Maude and always have. I was looking for it at Tower the other day and could not find it so I settled for A Boy and His Dog which is also an old fave. Ruth Gordon is just killer and that movie. Does anyone on the list have a copy of The Watermelon Man with Godfrey Cambridge??? I have been looking for that movie for along time and have not been able to find it anywhere's. Last time I saw it late night on some network station and sat up till it was over laughing my ass off.
