Of course nobody minds if you join in! The more the merrier. Welcome to the place. OK this is as good a time as any for me to get back on my JMDL horse and ride!!! Don't think this has changed much but here goes anyway ... 1.) Blue (big surprise huh?) 2.) Hejira 3.) For the Roses 4.) Ladies of the Canyon 5.) Court & Spark And you know there may be more - HOSL for one. Also the greatest pleasure for me comes in introducing or reintroducing one to Joni - so this Christmas I had the pleasure of dropping off LOTC to a special friend, along wih Travelogue per her request - I was almost giddy to do so - LOL! Hope all had a very Happy Holiday and best wishes for a great New Year!! Peace, Susan Yahoo! Hi all, I like to point out that at www.sharingthegroove.org there are a number of Joni Mitchell BitTorrent trades going on. And quit a number of interesting JM trades have been going on there. It's a pitty I'm only joining in just now. For those who don't know what BitTorrent is.. it's like kazaa except that it's much faster but the files are only provided for the short amount of time that a lot of people are downloading them. While downloading a file everybody shares his downloaded portion with all other people that are downloading it. I would encourage interested people with an ADSL or broadband connection to take a look at this site. The more people who start using it the faster everybody downloads. To actually use BitTorrent you will need a BT Client like TorrentStorm. Umm Mike ... you may skip 2 of those three anyway - and I am not talking about Wild Things ... but do go back and get to her greatest era LOTC thru Hejira. Then listen to DED - and see if you can bear it. Look forward to hearing more from you Mike!! Does jmdl.com share in the royalties from this publication? If not, it should, as I picked up very little in the book that I couldn't find by trawling the website for a few hours. I'm sure you guys would have discussed this publication upon it's release, but as a relative newcomer, does anyone else think the information in the book is highly derivative??? My daughter, Tegan, is studying a unit in English (for her Higher School Certificate this coming year) concerning Journeys and, being a young Joni fan, is currently looking at Joni's lyrics for a component on 'Inner Journeys'. She has asked me to ask you all what song(s) you would choose if you were required to illustrate this theme with Ms Mitchell's lyrics. She would be most grateful for any suggestions/comments anyone might care to offer. With best wishes, John (in Sydney) PS. Many thanks indeed to all who sent birthday wishes to me for the 23rd. I really appreciated them. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Album-wise, you could choose most, if not all, of the songs from: Song to a Seagull (I came to the city... out of the city and down to the seaside); Blue; For the Roses; Hissing; Hejira; Don Juan; Chalk Mark; Night Ride Home. Hejira is the ultimate journey album - Tegan could probably write an entire thesis on this one alone. ===== Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We all live so close to that line, and so far from satisfaction ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Dec 2003 00:00:45 EST From: FMYFL@aol.com Subject: Re: Inner Journeys and Joni Songs My favorite sweet wombat writes: > My daughter, Tegan, is studying a unit in English (for > her Higher School Certificate this coming year) > concerning Journeys and, being a young Joni fan, is > currently looking at Joni's lyrics for a component on > 'Inner Journeys'. > John................first of all (and I know you've told me this before), I'm so glad that her old man got Tegan to appreciate Joni. If she's as brilliant as you are, which I'm sure she is..............let her listen and read the lyrics to the song "Hejira" over and over. Explain them to her if you need to. It's one of those songs that I used to love to listen to, but it took someone else (Ed) to really make me appreciate the words. "Hejira" is definitely an inner journey song. If Tegan doesn't get an A+++++, I'll fly to Australia and bitch slap her teacher :~) Jimmy ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Dec 2003 01:28:09 EST From: BRYAN8847@aol.com Subject: Re: JMDL Digest V2003 #639 - Geffen box So far I've listened just to the previously unreleased and materials and WTRF. It does sound wonderful. I love the demo of Two Grey Rooms (I think we were calling it "Wordless" earlier, right?)...to me this one evokes the essence of Joni, or Joni as I experience her anyway: sophisticated, sensual, jazzy, fluid, etc. I love it.
