I need your help to suggest some songs, all of which should either a) include 'grace' in the title, or, b) 'grace' should appear in the songs in an important way. Patricia Barber's 'Mourning Grace' would be an example of the former and David Sylvian's 'Wanderlust' an example of the latter "Grace is an acquaintance of mine". So far in my person record collection (in addition to the above) I have the following: Graceland (P.Simon), Graceland (The Bible), Grace (Jeff Buckley), Falling Grace (Jim Hall & Pat Metheny), Amazing Grace (J. Collins). I know there is the 'Grace of My Heart' song by Ms Mitchell but I do not have it. There's the joni content covered ;-) Come you guys, help me fill the CD, 'you know there may be more' ((c) Catherine McKay) mike in barcelona ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Dec 2003 08:41:49 -0800 From: "Victor Johnson" Subject: RE: grace songs > Come you guys, help me fill the CD, 'you know there may be more' ((c) > Catherine McKay) > mike in barcelona Right off the top of my head, there's U2 "Grace" from All That You Can't Leave Behind, my producer Chris Rosser "Feat of Amazing Grace" from The Holy Fool, and Michelle Malone "Grace" from Beneath the Devil Moon. I was reading about the January 1975 Grammy Award nominations today over at www.jonimitchell.com . Joni's COURT AND SPARK was up for 4 nominations. She and her arranger, Tom Scott, apparently shared a Grammy for "BEST ARRANGEMENT ACCOMPANYING VOCALISTS". When the awards were presented later that year, she won that category. Stevie Wonder's "FULFILLINGNESS FIRST FINALE" was the "ALBUM OF THE YEAR", over "COURT AND SPARK". I can't complain about that. There were lots of terrific albums released in '74 and that's a worthy selection. On the other hand, Joni's nomination for the song "COURT AND SPARK" as "BEST POP VOCAL PERFORMANCE, FEMALE" didn't come through. Carole King's song "JAZZMAN" (which featured Tom Scott too if I recall correctly) was not chosen either. It went to that ultra-sweet teen sensation, Olivia Newton-John for "I Honestly Love You". Joni's nomination for "HELP ME" as "RECORD OF THE YEAR" also went to Olivia Newton-John for "I Honestly Love You". Ouch. And of course, the worst was yet to come: Disco lay just ahead.
