No, though I think 'Chinese Cafe/Unchained Melody should have been a hit! According to this book I have it was released in the UK Feb 83 on 7" with 'Ladies Man' as the b-side and never charted! It was never put out in the states but 'Be Cool' was in the same month with 'Underneath The Streetlight' as the b-side and also never charted - this one was not put out in the UK. There were no more singles from WTRF. I guess she put 'Chinese Cafe/Unchained Melody on HITS 'cos she thought it should have been a hit too. Gosh, that would make it a candidate for Misses, not Hits. I'm sure I read somewhere that CC/UM charted pretty high up in the UK. But you seem to know what you speak of and my memory is very vague. Why in heaven's name then is it on Hits? Makes no sense. Another bone to pick with Hits (as if it matters now): I have always thought Coyote should be on there, in place of River. Coyote was an FM rock radio hit. River was not a hit (though it has since been covered by nearly everybody). I think the whole Hits/Misses thing is messed up...not that it matters now, but whatever. I'm trying to figure out the lyric. I'm thinking Baby Blue was killed - "there's your orphan with a gun". I think this is a clue : Phil Ochs, Bob Dylan, Steve Goodman, David Blue and Me i remember back in the late 60's early 70's there was a meme floating around in the collective consciousness that Dylan's Baby Blue was David Blue. I never bothered finding out the source or validity of that. You find following out a search of David Blue that he acquired his name because of his eye color...or "baby blues". cul ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Oct 2003 08:03:18 EDT From: Murphycopy@aol.com Subject: Re: More Dylan content in liner notes Joni writes: << Birds of a feather aren't supposed to flock together >> Huh? --Bob ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 09 Oct 2003 09:22:27 -0500 From: "Donna Binkley" Subject: Happy Birthday Les! There's an ad on ebay for an "autographed" LP copy of Hejira. It doesn't look like Joni's signature to me. what say ye? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3353936327 It's not fluid (loopy) enough. It looks like a mechanic signed it. My copy of the CD does have Black Crow on it. I don't remember paying an exhorbitant amount but was so happy to get it, I probably didn't even notice. I didn't know there were copies that did not have the song! Hmmm.... Sherelle Date: Tue, 07 Oct 2003 09:33:52 +1300 From: hell@ihug.co.nz Subject: Re: Did Night Ride Home ever come out on vinyl? That's a "yes" to both. I have NRH on vinyl, and S&L on cassette. And in fact, I still listen to the cassette quite often, because it has Black Crow on it, which the CD doesn't (unless you buy the far more expensive Japanese import)! Hope you were able to behave yourself on your special day. You may want to run for governor one day and wouldn't want it out in the press that you groped, fondled, or otherwise physically offended a not so butch member of the wrong party. I am sure this morning's headlines feature your tasteful cake-cutting ceremony with a shot of you standing there in a morning suit smiling sweetly with all the politically correct standing solemnly by. You proper Brits are such fun. Look, we ain't getting any better so you better drag your pretty butt over here quick before we completely fade! Hope you had a great birthday.
