I've been thinking about this, and I like the idea that someone mentioned earlier, of sending Joni the alternate song lyrics that sprang up quite spontaneously on the list this summer. I think she might be amused (as we were) at our follies, and hopefuly she'd be touched as well. Of course, there could be a few different gifts from the JMDL (images, card, cover cd's?), but I'd be willing to help coordinate putting together a little book of our twisted lyrics. Any thoughts on this? Agreement? Objections? Is someone already looking into this idea ? I've got this weird sense of deja vu about the whole thing. It would be a riot if we could also send her the video of Sugarpants doing the beat poet thing at Jonifest, and the one of Walt doing his Joni-at-7/blue noodle routine. Joni has a sense of humour - I think she'd get a big kick out it. ===== Catherine Toronto ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Aug 2003 10:20:43 EDT From: AsharaJM@aol.com Subject: Re: A gift for Joni In a message dated 8/24/2003 10:19:01 AM Eastern Standard Time, anima_rising@yahoo.ca writes: > It would be a riot if we could also send > her the video of Sugarpants doing the beat poet thing > at Jonifest, and the one of Walt doing his > Joni-at-7/blue noodle routine. I hate that when I respond to my own posts, but maybe we could also send her a mug, a T-shirt (if there are any left) and a poster from jonifest 03? That way she could also see Claud's wonderful original design... ... which you can see here: http://www.jmdl.com/ In fact, you could have your very own poster for $8 US (includes postage and handling.) (Why resist the opportunity to flog these wares? and no, I don't get any commission for this, just a feeling of benevolant good will.) ===== Catherine Toronto ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Aug 2003 11:29:34 -0400 From: Bruce Aronow Subject: Joni on Last Waltz Hi there jmdlers I just joined the list after getting the Last Waltz DVD. I am sure all of you appreciate why, but being a complete neonate, I still feel moved to explain just a little of my feelings and why I would be drawn to an opportunity to talk and listen to you on JM. As soon as I heard Joni's first sweet background vocals on Neil Young's Helpless from backstage it just gave me goosebumps chills warmth you name it. And then when she gave Robbie that beautiful kiss, strummed those first chords of Coyote and sang so clear strong sweet with the understanding and humanity of the ages.. Oh ode to joy. To be much franker than I would be with anyone else.. I was pretty much plugged into LedZep and PinkFloyd when Blue (high school) and Ladies of the Canyon (college) seemed to offer a better path to the women that most appealed to me. If only I had followed that path along the canyon a little closer I could have saved several years and brain cells.. But I survived, and now I am a researcher at a jewel of a Children9s Hospital where I use genomics to better understand diseases like asthma, diabetes, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer. It is a total blast, better than disneyland when I was little, but a big part of the wind for my sails has got to come from artists and poets like Joni. Something I wish I could teach my kids a little more of is the joy and meaning that comes from gathering inspiration from great primary sources. The magnum opus is a house laid out in the fashion of "Stone Hinge" the wheel has a radius of 92 and 114 feet 10 degree segments are filled with different rooms, the result is each room looks out on different views on a 400 acre ranch in Washington State on the Columbia River not far from the Maryhill Museum. O I transformed myself thru Harry Potter's Order of the Phoenix or as I call it "Out of Toilet Paper." I did a lot of cross pollinating of my yellow climbing roses early in the summer. It will be next summer before I see any results in achieving a Joni Mitchell Rose, like the ones painted in BSN opposite of Comes Love. Went to a "Street of Dreams" a contractors collection of 1-2 million dollar houses one had the latest in total house programmable Internet sound system and was playing "Cherokee Louse" and "Nothing Can be Done" while I was checking out the Master Bath Room.
