I've just managed to have (HD)CD versions of Clouds, Mingus and... FTR! at last! That internet is so great! I can remember my FTR album coming from London through aimable intercession of some of my elder sister's friend... this has come from Ontario, btw. By now, I'd like to ask you to clear some doubts I have on Clouds: (Clouds wasn't released in Spain till the eighties, and with no lyrics nor credits) Who is/was Sadie J. McKee? What's sounding on Roses Blue? the effect is similar to these banshee voices on Nathan La Franeer, but it seems like some strings trembling in a frightening vibrato (btw: scary way our SIQUOMB had on finishing firsts sides of her younger albums!) Well, I'll don't take no more time from you... by now :-) I guess many of you have talked about these things in the past, so excuse if it's annoying... as some of my sentences' syntax! Cherokee Louise is one of my favourite Joni tunes, but the image `to the place where you can stand and press your hands as bubble bath in dust piled hight as me, down under the street`` has never really worked for me. I just don' t get the image in this otherwise graphic, staightforward and poignant song. I was therefore hoping that some poetic soul on the list might have some insight as to what kind of physical space Joni is referring to, under that Broadway Bridge. I'm not sure I'd describe myself as a "poetic soul"!, but I've always assumed that it meant the dust was so fine and piled so deeply, that it feels like the suds of bubble bath - almost so fine that you can't feel it. No idea, mainly because I never listen to Clouds - I'll leave that question to those far more knowledgable than me! > Well, I'll don't take no more time from you... by now :-) > I guess many of you have talked about these things in the past, > so excuse if it's annoying... as some of my sentences' syntax! Don't apologise for your writing - you're doing fine! And also don't ever apologise for asking a question about Joni - or anything else for that matter. That's why we're here - to talk about Joni, her music etc. and to learn. There was a point where none of us knew a thing about her! Just because some of us have been here a while, doesn't mean we don't like rehashing old topics anyway - can anyone say "notches liberation doll"?!
