I hear similarities in the guitar work anyway. This site is beautiful and fun to use....reminding again how much jm.com needs to be upgraded. This guitar would really be a hit at the jonifest! I'm not clear on why the dealers that wanted it didn't just bid for it.... So far the jmdl list has been aware of two of her Ibanez GB's on ebay, but no one has been able to buy it...the thing is, if you publicize it more widely, a dealer could still end up with it. Other options: Auction, again, anyone could get it. Two or more people could pool their money for it. Or Hard Rock Cafe or a similar rock museum could buy it. More people could see it, but it would be nicer if it had a chance to "play on". As fans, it's nice if we can get a shot at the instruments she decides to sell. Please keep us posted on what you decide to do. This is history, Joni's tools of the trade.... I can't sing, but I try to sing along, and I've been singing that song everywhere, and now I wonder: are my feeble efforts a compliment or an insult to Joni? That is the song I should have hated. My mother (we are estranged) is named Sharon. Now I wonder who Joni's 'Sharon' is. The lyrics sound as though Joni is telling Sharon something, and taking awhile to get to the point (as we all do when it's a painful subject). The end of a relationship, interspersed with scenes from New York as she (Joni, the singer) is trying to deal with it and talk about it. The last line is a study in contrasts. Sharon has settled down, and Joni hasn't. She still has her "eyes on the land and the sky." I wonder if she realises how Mongolian that phrase is. The music is gentle as waves, and tiny changes are noticeable. Listening to this unblocked me trying to write a song of my own: the only similiarity is that mine is addressed to a person, in this case Brian, and it's a study in contrasts between a young man who just killed himself and a friend who had never been suicidal. I'll conclude by thanking Joni, and of course if my own lyrics turn out to stink, blame me for them. "We all live so close to that line...."
