And you are so correct! This version is much colder and stormier than the original. You are right about the wind from the orchestra, it is almost SPOOKY! And I can really hear the arbutus leaves being shaken about viciously. I also love the percussive tapping of nails one can hear when Joni sings "hammers and the boards and the nails." I love that line so much, reminds me again of "one false move and you're a goner." Such a sad commentary on the music biz...thinking about the Dixie Chicks and Sinead O'Connor right now. Although, the one thing I like better about the original verision is Joni's guitar work when she sings "will *glitter* for them so." The guitar fingering really sparks up an image of *glitter* that the symphony cannot do justice to. Thanks again for sharing your insights and I hope for more soon! Naw. When we pre-ordered, one of the last things the auto-attendant said was "shipping" takes 4-6 weeks. A few days later I posted that some big guy at Eagle Vision told Simon it would be in stores on June 3rd. We're right on schedule, which when you think about it, almost never happens!! Artist: Joni Mitchell Title: Woman Of Heart And Mind Format: DVD / VHS Catalogue: EV 30039-9-DVD5 / EV 30039-3-VHS - ------------- "Painting With Words and Music" is available on DVD and NTSC-VHS (in the USA at least). Try www.amazon.com I don't know if it is free of region coding. Many JMDLers were there and appear in the film, cast as audience members. :) She had a wonderful band, as usual, including Brian Blade. - ------------- "Shadows and Light" is available on DVD from a reputable guy in Hong Kong, via eBay auctions. This one is advertised as being free of region coding. It plays fine here in the US and includes stuff left off the 60 minute version sold on VHS here twenty years ago. Again, she had a wonderful band, as usual including Jaco Pastorius. This video also features my favorite guitar solo of all time. In marketing they call it an effort at "re-sell". If you like "A", you may also want to purchase "B". The PWWaM obviously is material that has had all of the "rights" worked out too. Ask Paz what a bitch that can be. The other performances, like the full length "Blue" maybe a "product" later and I expect the machine will hype it when the machine can generate revenue with it. "Big wheels keep on turnin'." Lynard Skynard "Money, from that money machine" JT Lama RR asked, >>Why don't they include the full song performances from THIS documentary????
