Hi, is there a copy of the permavine CD circulating the UK? If so I'd dearly love to get in the loop - I have a cassette copy of the Joni/James concert that I recorded direct from the radio wayback but its quality leaves much to be desired... Can anyone help me out? The idea originated while she was on a tour for Blind Assasin in Australia. The story behind the story is quite wonderful. http://www.randomhouse.com/features/atwood/essay.html when Joni received her star of fame in Toronto in front of the Royal Alex theatre, Margaret Atwood was there the same day to receive hers. Then, I thought I might be able to copy the PermaVine original since it's already "finalized" so I requested the one from John. Now, Casey isn't sending me his 'cause he thinks John is sending me one and John isn't sending me his 'cause he thinks Casey is sending me one. I'm sorry if I caused confusion, folks... but at this point, I don't have one coming so if anyone still has one up for grabs, I'd appreciate a shot at it. Thanks. And they're both Scorpios! I have a photo of the two of them hugging at Canada's Walk of Fame, both of them looking thrilled to be there, grinning from ear to ear. U have to stand in a drop line to get up closest to the stage....I'll instead be enjoying the pre-concert party...We have a "Banner" sent from concert to concert that Bruce just recently signed in Europe mysteriously about the same time the Mother of this now deceased Laker the banner was dedicated to .....Steve aka "Brilliantly Disguised" doing the parking lot Greasy Lake Party........ Jack & Sue aka Balloon Man & Mrs. Balloon Man will be hosting the main Greasy Lake Philly tailgate party.......he makes some awesome Philly Cheese Steaks and he'll be launching /blowing up balloons for all the peeps (this is what they call diehard Bruce fans), young and old. I'm still learning.... I went to his mini fest at their home in Turnersville, NJ back in February...it was near my birthday.....He brought out the balloons....it is amazing what he can create with this latex....he made me an air guitar...that he actually played! a few other or his creations, which I decline mentioning here lol (use your own dirty minds) U see he really is a Balloon Man, he does this for a living, Children's Birthday Parties.....Hospital Charity events....The Local Food Banks...while his wife Sue works at the local hospital (she provides the family with their medical benefits) he is a wonderful human being...so r the other Lakers...they take care of rosie...I love them, as I love u guys.... I started off being a casual Bruce fan back in the 70's, it wasn't until Bruce released The Rising CD that he really caught my attention.....He won my heart.....some local guy from south Jersey saw Bruce walking one day and shouted out to him....we really need to hear from you now....It wasn't long after, that Bruce began writing the songs for what was later to be titled "The Rising"....I saw him on the morning of July 26th. I waited for him to arrive...I was expecting a limo. I was much sleep deprived I briefly went to his midnight CD release party at the Stone Pony...there was a HUGE celebration.....it was hotter than hell in that place....there were so many peeps...they had to open the garage doors to the adjoining outdoor venue. The place was a mess!!!! Beer bottles all over the floor...The Pony staff were exhausted and lost control of the situation. Free breakfast was being served outside...compliments of Bruce...he fed his people. Jim (my then husband) and I went up on the dilapidated Boardwalk... where we could get some air...thick, as it was 90 degrees at 1:00am. We could not believe our eyes...there were people camped out all along the beach promenade......they were waiting to get into the Convention Hall for the "Today Show interview" with Katie, Al and Matt...where Bruce would be debuting a few of his Rising songs ...the peeps in the very front of the line were from California...they had been there for days....Licence plates from all over the US, Canada, and foreigners present from abroad. The Asbury Park Press was handing out free water bottles, Bruce posters and newspapers...you had to keep hydrated... Howard Johnson's was open for business. Poor George, the owner, was not prepared......ice trucks and beer was being delivered by the hour....there were 30,000 + people that had just invaded Asbury Park, NJ, a ghost town, no a war zone! Now let me remind, you saw my pictures of the beach promenade...the only places open for business are the now refurbished Convention Hall/Paramount Theater, The Stone Pony, The Berkley Carteret Hotel, Ho Jo's on the weekends, and a few other seaside bars/music venues along the circuit. The beaches are even closed; "No Swimming" signs are posted. At the other end of the Boardwalk is that beautiful, sad, dilapidated "Casino" which I trespassed into and photographed...BTW, next is the Palace Amusements...I found a way in....the wrecking balls r coming in soon, but I digress! :~( Jim and I call it a morning...it is 3:00 am and we head over to our motel room......we are scared...the Berkley was booked solid...we find a room at this motel on Rt. 66....we turn the TV on, it is porn....needless to say I could not sleep there....We shower and head back to Convention Hall to greet Bruce. It is 7:00 AM Where the feck is Bruce I wonder? We await Bruce's arrival along with about 100 other fans in the driveway along the ramp which leads to the Convention Hall....I'm expecting a stretch limo...nope...here comes a black Land Rover up Seventh Avenue....It is Bruce Springsteen..... he drove himself!...he is alone. I grin at him, he smiles right at Rosie...that's it....I'm done for....I fall in love. Later that day there is rumor of a rehearsal show......20.00 admission to be donated to the local food bank....form a line the coordinators say......Jim and I stand in a drop line for 6 feckin hours in the blazing sun only for our line to be shut out....but it's alright, it's ALRIGHT...we hear him from the boardwalk ...they open the doors to the Hall per Bruce's request......this is for all the people out on the boardwalk he says...Turn it UP!!! I'm dancing out on the boardwalk on top of a bench outside of Ho Jo's and in BR-UUU-UCE heaven.....YEAH!!!! The tour continues...next stop Italy......when will it end?!? I hope to get to Jonifest this year.....My long term temp job is being extended until this friday...the economy is really bad....I dunno what is going to happen...I am scared, but Bruce is keeping me up these days.....the dope that there is hope.... Just so u know, before Bruce, there was JONI MITCHELL...I am not a traitor....she sings my SORROW, Bruce is my JOY. he's the only joy in town.... Does that make sense? Joni rules though. I will always love her no matter what. that is the Joni content...wouldn't it be cool if Joni and Bruce jammed together? :0) rosie ok I'm done In the morning there are lovers in the street They look so high You brush against a stranger And you both apologize ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 May 2003 02:00:00 -0400 From: ljirvin@jmdl.com Subject: Today in History: May 17 1998: Joni, Bob Dylan, and Van Morrison perform in George, Washington at The Gorge Amphitheater.
