For the booklet of the words alone it is a fantastic collection of wonderful poems and with them set to music its just ..........WEll one of the best things I have in my collection..... I had the great good fortune to have Chris here for Easter (along with my cousin Sonja and her partner Michelle) It oddly happened that Strings and Martin were also down this way and we all met up for lunch... VEry nice lunch in a pub looking way way down and along all over the Solent and out to the Isle of Wight.... and my daughter (11 and a real muso in the making) is raving about the CD and about wanting to join a band when she is older. Chris, Martin and Strings will be an event at the Fest and I am feeling even more excited now.... Look I have never been but YOU ALL HAVE TO COME...... IT IS AN ORDER Lucy (who did mean to shout that last bit) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 16:50:34 +0100 From: "Laurent Olszer" Subject: Joni Dream After watching Fritz Lang's "Secret behind the door" last night, a movie based on psychoanalysis, I went back to 1974 during a MOA concert. Had great seats, and was taping the show on my MD recorder (forget the anachronism). Joni is wearing a coral pink Miyake outfit. After 2 or 3 songs, all of a sudden a bunch of security guys come barging in. The guy next to me gets thrown out of the concert for some reason. Then the security guy comes next to me, he makes me move sideways, which I do by sliding the microphone which I taped to the rail. He tells me to clean up my gear or he'll take my passport away. This was enough to wake me up (and go to the bathroom). Went back to sleep, and then I was in the middle of an after show party where the Joni fans (JMDLers?) were complaining to the show promoters about all of these events. Guess I must have been traumatized when cops were busting pot smokers in the bathroom and in the aisles during a Stones show in L.A. 91. It was great, I hadn't been before - - they had tons of Beatles stuff, and CSN&Y (including the cover of CSN&Y So Far), and Dylan photos, and autographed guitars of many people, including Willie Nelson and B. B. King (who I got to see in january!), and, of course, tons of Elvis things. And by the time we got there I had run out of film (but the puffins at the biodome are really cute!) :(. It's a good reason to go back, so I can have pictures even if I don't have anything from the gift shop (I wasn't about to spend $30 on a baseball cap). But on the way there, while listening to Amelia, I realised I never thought about it, what was "just a false alarm"? And yes, headphones make it just so much better listening, especially the intro of Hejira. For Trouble Child I have always pictured a hospital or similar situation, "They open and close you", physically, they could be doing that, and different people and doctors all the time, "a river of changing faces", I'm not sure who it is...One other thing I was wondering, on DJRD, who is El Bwyd (split tongued spirit)? Hello all ! Last night on the TV series " Alias " Joni popped up again. A few months back they used the song "River" as the backdrop to a scene. Last night a very " by-the-book CIA operative was sitting at a computer terminal wearing headphones and weeping, another operative who was sweet on her shyly got her attention and offered a tissue. As she removed her headphones he asked if she was O.K, flustered she hesitantly replied, "I'm listening to Joni Mitchell" ..." please don't tell anyone." The conversation continued breifly and the scene ended with her saying " Joni always makes me feel so fatalistic." The episode's title was "Apocalypse Later." I wanted to keep you JMDLs abreast of the world around you.( Actually this is just a blatant plug for my favorite TV show !) Later... Jonily Yours, Warren Keith p.s. He apparently got some kind of bug or infection while in the hospital. His tests have been delayed until he gets better. He's running a fever, says he feels "like crap" and seems a bit bummed. (still sneaking onto email to send me a quick note) Let's all hope our dear buddy is up and about soon! lots of love Anne ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2003 #146 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
