Hi all. Been reading your minds for the last 2 years and thought I'd contribute some JC. I was at a large park for a picnic when I ran into Joni herself!!! And alone!!!She looked great with S&L era permed hair, a healthy smile, and wasn't smoking. Being a big fan I said hello and she had a warm vibe to her. She seemed quite interested in conversation. Knowing this was a chance of a lifetime(and a shot in the dark)I let her know all the things we have in common, was witty and humerous, and made me out to be a good catch for her. She just kind of smiled and said nothing when I asked if she would like to see each other again. She had that look like it was out of the question!!That look that could mean she only dates musicians or other famous people, isnt looking, that I wasn't good looking enough, or she plain wasn't interested. Soon we went our seperate ways, cordially. Just like in Twilight Zone here's my plot twisting ending.....it was all a dream. But then you already could tell it was a dream cuz she was w/out a cigarette in hand!!! Any thoughts or analyses are welcome. Anybody else dream of Joni? Peace.....Bill from IL, who loves Coltrane _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Feb 2003 01:03:20 -0500 From: "Jim L'Hommedieu \(Lama\)" Subject: Joni CD-R Tree Yo, Trader John! Welcome. It's funny you should mention a CD tree. The Joni Mitchell Internet community's archivist, Simon, sent me 3 CDs a few weeks ago. I've been meaning to see who is interested in them. Your post prompted me to action. The first CD is an archival transfer of the so-called "Joni and James" (Taylor) concert on the BBC. It's He puts this appearance as London, England, Paris Cinema, October 29th, 1970. As many on the list will tell you, it was a great show, with wonderful stories, humor, snappy repartee, and even a false start. It's 11 tracks from a top quality transcription LP (!), played through a Mark Levinson phono preamp, then digitized using an oversampling converter. In addition to the 11 tracks from the actual BBC transcription, Simon included 5 tracks from a soundcheck. The unreleased song Joni wrote called "Hunter" is among them. CD2 and CD3 are Joni's appearance on a music and interview radio show. The host, David Dye, at WXPN in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is completely familiar with Joni's material and actually asks literate and intelligent questions. Joni talks about everything from Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, "Ethiopia", Wayne Shorter, "Sex Kills", her favorite English teacher, and collaborating with David Crosby. The show was broadcast on September 5, 1994. I'll dub it for anyone who follows these 3 basic rules: * Agree not to ever profit in any way from spreading it around, * Send 3 blank CD-R discs, and * Include return postage. Anyone who wants it should write to me, offlist. Thanks for the bandwidth, Les. All the best, Lama Trader John said, >>>>>> While I have been able to locate some of Joni's earlier shows in my trading circles (and, then, sometimes with great difficulty), I have noted that many of the ones I have received have originated from tape sources that were obviously many generations removed from the originals. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Feb 2003 14:44:08 +0800 (PHT) From: Subject: Re: a strange boy > Norah Jones doing a Joni cover?
