I was wondering if anyone out there could compile a rough time-line of Joni's love life :) I don't mean down to the nitty-gritty just most of the highlights. I love trying to figure out what songs where written when she was seeing a certain beau. And who is her latest love? I don't keep up with these type of things at all...I did notice a man sitting with her at the TNT tribute a couple years ago????? Is anyone up for this? I can't help you much with the time-line, Erica, though I DO have a copy of the Rolling Stone chart that paired her up with all the rock stars. Donald Freed, an old friend from Saskatoon, was her date & romantic link during the TNT show. But alas, they are no more. I don't think Joni has any attachments at present other than her grandkids & her little dog Coco. He was a perfect host and stood no chance of maintaining any control over such a rowdy bunch of obsessives. Also, Ashara shouldn't feel too guilty about being the catalyst for the event and thus one of the prime causes of the riot. The event only went to prove what I have been saying for many years, that JMDLers are a bad bunch - the worst in my experience, and Colin is no exception. Some serious action needs to be taken to prevent the spread of this phenomenon. Seriously now, thanks guys. I had a great time and have already started practicing some mandolin tunes for next time. Also on this video is bonus footage of Ten Years After, including their appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1969 and an appearance on German TV in 1978." Is it because Janet used a sample of Joni's voice, while PM Dawn only sampled instruments? Just curious. However, I do think the JJ track is more significant in terms of Joni contect than either of the PM Dawn songs, though I like the PMD tracks better. If & when I get the rest of the stuff, I should have another CD full. If you haven't already checked it out, the complete list is posted at: http://www.jonimitchell.com/Lists/Contributions/ContributionsYear.htm Bob ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 06 Aug 2002 00:30:40 -0400 From: Relayer211@aol.com Subject: Yes Were great!!! He says it's the best thing he's ever done and oh yes, I do agree, indeed. I can't begin to describe it, you have to experience it for yourself. I've followed him since the Hollies, have all his solos and combos with CSN or Y and this the one is where it all comes together in gorgeous glory. Oh my. All of the songs are unique and beautiful. Of extra note is his cover of Richard and Linda Thompson's "Pavanne" and "Liar's Nightmare" an 8 minute, 15-verse lyric breathtaker that has much to say to everyone about our world and society with words by Nash and melody by (I believe) Joni dulcimer mentor Jean Ritchie (Mr. Dulson can correct me ;-). Croz does some subtle harmony along the way but there is no apparent hidden Joni track. "Where Loves Lies Tonight" is like listening to a McCartney love song but better. The haunting "Chelsea Hotel" is classic Nash with possibly vague Joni allusions. The hook-up with Russ Kunkel and Dean Parks has done him very well, I think. I also think Kate's friends Doug Ingoldsby and John Gonzales have brought much beauty to the album - I can hear their influence on it. The fact that he is taking this live with Klein, Pevar, Parks, Raymond and Kunkel is beyond mindblowing to anticipate. Get the album, see the show.
