Rolling Stone later published a review of the concert, saying: "For "Help Me," her opener, Mitchell dressed in a black pantsuit, topped by a black felt hat with her hair piled up inside, the total effect being one of androgynous austerity. Frequently turning her back to the audience and not talking during the first four songs, she made Dylan seem accessible. Two hours later, she would remove her hat (to great applause), strip off her jacket, roll up her sleeves and, cigarette in hand, close with a loose, smiling rendition of 'Twisted.'" Way down upon the swoonage river. It was around the time when I think she looked her best, IMHO. People (i.e. those endeared by the pissing, ooops, passing punk craze) thought we were nuts sitting through what had been deemed a crap self-indulgent four-hour home-made hippy movie. I was a bigger Dylan fan than I was of Joni in those days and the concert performances of Dylan with the white face singing Isis and TUIBlue et al were just what the psychiatrist ordered. I would love to get a hold of R&C to see why I got so Joanne Worle-e-e-e-ey about it way back then. I can't imagine it's readily available. Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to introduce you to Bob. Muller that is. There are some great articles in the database. I found this one by Cameron Crowe the other day (which was published on my birthday, making it EXTRA special!): http://www.jmdl.com/articles/docs/790726rs.cfm Joni talks about lots of things, including the origin of Paprika Plains, after a conversation with Bob Dylan, also after which he wrote One More Cup Of Coffee (one of my favourites of his). Another thing I thought of, was how many great photos of Joni are "buried" in these articles. I know Pat Boland had a wonderful site on Photopoint (now unavailable) with a large collection of images, but is there some way we can collate all these into one area, preferably on one of the "official" sites? It's a huge job (and I know who's going to get asked to coordinate it now!) but it would be nice. Any thoughts from anyone else, or is it too huge a task?! This idea has been batted around for years but no one has stepped up to the plate to tackle the project. It would mean attempting to date each photo within a year's timeframe, perhaps adding a caption as well, and putting them into a database. Any takers? :-) Les ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2002 #52 ******************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
