An A+ . I had to laugh at this quote - Love or Money a "little too busy"? Has the reporter heard The Last Time I Saw Richard? Now there's a song with too many words for the notes! The funny thing is, it works - brilliantly, and so does Love Or Money. I agree, it's one of the highlights of MOA for me - I wish she'd put it on an album, I'd love to hear a studio version of this song. At least to me, they said "no." Well, forgive me if this has posted before, but they did release a video. Kinda. It's one of those that went out to members of the Emmy organization, with "For Your Emmy Consideration" emblazoned (in gold) on the box in five places. It's real cool looking. The Academy Awards people do the same thing - -- pre-releasing videos of movies to members only, not to be shared or duplicated (right, like I haven't been give boots!). Anywho, it's an original videotape with Joni's Tribute and the Bob Marley Tribute on the same tape. They share cover space. The cover is the same as the poster or postcards that were floating around. Brad gave this to me last night as part of my Valentine's Day gift. He and his friend Carlos found it at the Fairfax High School flea market. Sealed (with gold tape holding it in place in the box, as it will remain). The guy selling it wanted $2. When Brad protested the price, as he always does, the guy reduced it to $1! He thought I already had a copy, but thought I would like one sealed. Well, I had palpitations, knowing it was probably pretty rare (but there are thousands of members). Most of these just get tossed, or so some of my pals who receive these kinds of things tell me. So, has anyone seen or have one of these? How much can I get for it on eBay? (kidding!) It was a Happy Valentine's Day for me. Oh, ya, and the club shirt that was to be my "real gift" was cool as well. Wait till you see this one, Clark! Faux poodle fur on the collar! I'm with Colin on this - i.e. not a royalist but:- Our local paper carries a story today, of when Margaret visited the local Barnado's home (for orphans). A boy showed her a guitar he had made and she showed great interest and picked out a tune on it. She had some talent as a musician, especially as a pianist, and entertained many. The story I like best about her, however, involves the Incredible String Band. According to Robin Williamson, who I am going to see next Friday, by coincidence, the Princess spent some time with this eccentric band and he remembers her rendition of the Monty Python song "I've got a ferret sticking up my nose" on piano quite vividly. The Royal Family cannot be all bad! The funeral was today and a number of well known musicians who were friends attended. Jacky ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Feb 2002 22:04:42 EST From: CoyoteRick@aol.com Subject: Joni to Gather Souls (SJC) Today I was planning the first summit meeting of my new organization. We recently merged my company with the utility in San Diego and are trying to make everyone a big happy family. About two weeks ago, I was given a position in which I manage two departments, one in San Diego (Hi Lindsay!) and my old group in LA along with a third group in Downey (home of Karen and Richard, make that Richard) which is part of my current employer. In total, I now have about 40 people in my organization -- from very distinct corporate cultures -- and my early task is to assimilate them to one culture. So, I was thinkin' about a way to bring Joni into this and decided at the first summit meeting on March 8, where everyone will meet one another for the first time. You see, the SD folks have been calling the LA folks to "see what kinda boss I am." I've been told they say I am fine, as long as you don't ask me about Joni Mitchell! So, I decided to present each of them with their own copy of BSN! What could be better than talking about both sides of the Company, now? Should be a kick, I'll let you all know their reaction... But they did play for three hours. That less than $100/hour in the expensive seats. :) But if you take the $210 top price and divide it by four, that leaves each guy with 52.50 a ticket (more than I'd pay for anyone but Neil solo BTW!) HOWEVER, Joni toured with an orchestra plus Klein on bass and Erskine on drums plus Vince Mendoza's cut of the money. That must have been an expensive undertaking. That's why $90 face value was OK with me. >>I don't think it >>needs to be that high. Dylan tickets here went for >> >>$30 (General admission) & $39.50 (reserved). Yeah, Dylan tickets do run cheap. I read recently that Dylan doesn't tour for money-just for fun. He makes more of his money in royalties. Sounds logical to me. I think he takes a loss sometimes. After all, he picked up Joni & Van's tabs in New York when he ran long and pushed the place into Union overtime! >>What Joni should do is scale down her venues, and play the same >>concert >>halls that Jackson played on his last tour. A multi night engagement at a smaller venue allows just as many people to all get good seats. I nominate the Ford Amphitheatre in LA instead of the Greek (which I do love). The Ford is a little smaller, but just as cool. I saw Emmylou Harris there last year and it was great. Anyhow, back to my hole.
