From Wally's Bio Page: Joni performed "Moon at the Window" and "Sex Kills". Some of the other performers at the show were Julie Andrews, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Don Henley, Salt N Pepe, Tammy Wynette, Rupaul, Clint Black, George Michael, and Elton John. The finale of the 3 hour show was Elton singing his hit "I'm Still Standing" with all the performers dancing on stage with him. The benefit raised over 3 million dollars for AIDS charities. Thanks Les! I've never seen these fotos before either. I've seen similar stills of the first two, but not these. Aren't those JT's suspenders she's wearing in the color fotos, seems I've seen those before.......? ~rose ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jan 2002 08:19:48 EST From: SCJoniGuy@aol.com Subject: Re: Live '75-'76 << There is a Canadian version of "This land is your land", so that's where Joni would have gotten it. >> That looks like it, Catherine...thanks for the info. It's hard to pick out exactly what she's singing as the song is so rushed. At least she doesn't sound like in a total stupor like the other vocalists. Bob ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jan 2002 09:45:11 -0800 (PST) From: Tyler Hewitt Subject: lyric changs My guess is that "He's got a woman down the hall and I think he wants me anyway". is easier to sing (and seems a little less clunky) than "He's got a woman for the night and I think he wants one for the day". It also changes the meaning a little-the new lyric implies having a string of lovers/girlfriends as opposed to having a series of one night stands. RE: ...Some of these recordings are available and are very interesting. Joni does "Woman of Heart & Mind", "Edith & The Kingpin", "Don't Interrupt The Sorrow", and an early version of "Coyote" where she sings the original lyric: "He's got a woman for the night and I think he wants one for the day" instead of: "He's got a woman down the hall and I think he wants me anyway". Wonder what prompted that lyric change? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Darice wrote: <> Hi Darice-- Yeah, let's do it again. Funny, I just ran into John G. on the street last night, and we chatted for a few minutes. This, after he had to call my name three times before I finally noticed him [blush]. I was a million miles away, thinking of (honestly) Joni's wonderful "Jericho", and the arrangement I'm trying to work out on the piano for it. John said he'd been playing STAS lately (and loving it, of course), but he later sent me an e-mail saying he'd given Jericho a listen again. Tell you what, since John and I live just three blocks from each other, and this is a nice neighborhood with quite a few cafes, maybe John and I could find a quiet place in this neighborthood where we would have a better opportunity to talk and get to know each other. OR, I'm perfectly happy getting together again at the Bazaar, where we all got together the first time in November, since my main squeeze Robert and I have gotten into the habit of going to all the "First Wednesday" LesBiGay Singer/Songwriter nights at the Bazaar anyway -- great performers, we have yet to be disappointed. The next one would be on Wed, Feb 6th. The only problem with that is the fact that some people (I think, e.g., the Mixons, who I haven't met but would like to) can't make weeknight plans cuz of kids or early work hours the next day or what have you. So maybe this time we should try for a Friday or Saturday night. I'm sending this to the whole list because I don't have everyone's e-mail in the SFBay Area. So SFBayjmdlers: write to me at with any suggestions or proposals. Let's find out who's interested, and what time restrictions there are, etc. And Darice -- if you can tell me how to set up that e-invite website thing you did last time, I'll be happy to run it this time -- unless you'd rather do it, or if it's easier to do it that way because you've got the site set up already... peace to all, Walt Breen ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2002 #20 ******************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
