Hey, A friend heard about this African bass player who played with Joni and who is the latest meteoric star on the music scene. My friend couldn't remember the bassist' name. Does anybody know who he is and what he's recorded? Laurent ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Nov 2001 18:52:08 -0000 From: "Laurent Olszer" Subject: discaholic Hi Ron, You're not alone. It's like a drug, with the same withdrawal symptoms. Also have plenty of vinyls I never opened. Same addiction with guitars, on a smaller scale of course. Look at it this way, so many people are bored in their life with no hobby they're passionate about. At least when we retire we'll have plenty of unfinished things to do. Can't wait. I have exactly the same problem playing with non-Joni fans. No problem with the sax + harp players. The others are lost. What solutions might you recommend? What we need is a Joni songbook for the rest of the band. But that's probably a long ways away. You just never know where the Joniphiles are lurking. That reply to that guy on the Cat Stevens board was mine. I was so surprised that someone would know who Cat Stevens is, but not Joni (or Mick Jagger, for that matter). The joke bombs but her banter with the audience and the band afterwards is priceless - does anyone know when/where this concert took place? On the subject of concerts, I read in Mojo (a U.K music mag) agres ago that an engineer from a mid '70s tour was remixing material for a CD release - havent heard anything since - anyone clued up on this? Thanks a lot, have been enjoying the posts for a while now.
