After about 3 years of procrastination on my part I have finally 
taken the steps needed to give birth to the Wanderer, a companion

Of course, it's totally your call, Kate...it's a beutiful love song using failed images of flight (Icarus, Amelia Earhart) in correspondence with a failed love affair. I don't see anything that would be offensive, certainly. Could actually be a song of healing...even when *I* sang it I drew some tears.

Morgan Ames writes a terrific, highly, highly complimentary and
sophisticated article on Joni, her career, Both Sides Now and the Mendel
show in NUVO magazine, Autumn 2001.  The website is www.nuvomagazine.com ,
but the article is not available on the website - only ordering information.
The article is 6 pages and has some nice photographs - old and new.

there was a segment on the latest
Vanity Fair magazine due out
next week (?).  Their yearly music
issue.  Looks like Joni is on the
cover behind David Bowie.  It was
so fast I couldn't catch any other
details.

Look for the latest Vanity Fair Music
issue with a special attachment
regarding the NY Fire Department.

a peer.  In an interview several years ago (I believe in Rolling Stone, but 
I'm not sure), Joni was quoted:  "My peers? Who are my peers?  Carly Simon 
and these other women are not my peers."  I believe she also was quoted as 
saying that Dylan and Cohen would be included among her peers.  It was, of 
course, a short list.

As far as Joni's paintings which were supposed to be in the L.A. Times last
