We could all be arguing now about the 'significance' of messages and images hidden and/or revealed to us in the Both Sides Now artwork. Or would we ? Eh? Wot? I have been drinking lots and lots of wine to see if I can identify the exact one in the painting. There is an Italian wine called Lachryma Christi. Could this be it? Orts" Subject: Joni bootlegs in Austin Well, last week I mentioned picking up what was billed as a "live import" that had an early concert of Joni's. Found out that I paid like 6 times what I should have for something JMDLers have on the tape tree. (I never participated on the tape tree just because I'm lazy. :) Yesterday, I came across something that looked of the same ilk, at a difference CD store. This was a 2 CD set, again of early Joni performances. The cover said from '67 and '68. I can't remember where it said they were recorded, but from the sound of it, it was some coffee house/club that Joni performed at regularly in those years. Anyway, they wanted something like 50 bucks for the set. I passed on it. Anyway, has anyone else run across these things? I find it interesting that I've seen two in different stores withing a week of each other. - -Neil ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Neil E. In other words, I kept seeing her name on other people's albums, liking the songs, and finally going to the source of the genius. :) In other news, I find myself thinking about Perry Como, what with his recent passing. I was never a huge fan, but always kinda liked him. He seemed like a nice guy, someone it'd be comfortable to chat with. Surely he recorded a version of Both Sides Now somewhere along the way, didn't he? Anyone know if he recorded any other Joni songs? Hey there all, Since Rob brought it up, I definitely have seen an increase in Joni boots in the last few years. Yesterday, I went to a record collectors expo, and much to my chagrin, I discovered that the Hissing Demos, up until now what I considered to be a well guarded secret, have made it to the boot market, all dolled up with cheesy cover art (mainly using the shot for Rolling Stone's '79-'80 interview)...bummer. Whats more, there were copies all over the place! I'd estimate 7 different dealers had a copy prominently displayed on their table. By the way, Rob, the EAC program you 'lent' me solved my CD burning problem just fine. - -Chris, enjoying the (surprising) serenity of the new Ani CD. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 May 2001 09:55:07 EDT From: SCJoniGuy@aol.com Subject: Re: Joni bootlegs in Austin <Anyway, they wanted something like 50 bucks for the set.
