Oops, no she doesn't. But she says it appears on the GOMH soundtrack and doesn't mention that it also appears on TTT. She also praises "My Best to You," but does not mention that it is a cover. - ----------------------------------- Deb Messling "I like cats. Kakki? lol No, no ;-) From the photos I've seen I'd call it more of a quasi post-Victorian California bungalow. In other words, it's cute in a classic way - what more could we expect from Joni and the place Graham crooned about. I have referred to some other houses around Laurel Canyon as "cabins" but that was really just a polite euphemism for, ahem, "shacks". ;-D Kakki ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Feb 2001 14:08:27 EST From: FMYFL@aol.com Subject: Re: Riding train through Saskatoon In a message dated 2/9/01 1:29:13 PM Eastern Standard Time, KakkiB@worldnet.att.net writes: << >> And wasn't it a log cabin type house? I could post it to Catgirl's list if anyone's interested. It's not a great photo, but it would give folks an idea of Joni's Laurel Canyon house. I don't have the right kind of scanner to do it easily myself. Also - if one does a search of the early Joni photos on Corbis or Henry Diltz's web site, it shows her around that house. It was painted a kind of turquoise-green at the time. Diltz's site also has some photos inside the house and it really looked like a fantastic place. Artsy-hippie style and lots of antiques, stained glass and "varnished weeds in window jars." I liked the decor better than what she later did with the Bel Air house as shown in Arch. Digest in '77. (Although I like what she has done since based on the photos in Mojo a few years ago). The Laurel Canyon house probably was and still is one of the nicer places on that street. Just printed out the article off JM.com .Jana is grilling Joni,Jana got a full set of choppers there in the picture She should forget the black choker it detracts from buttons on the sweater that leads my eyes down to, damn trippin on my genes again. The judgment of Chuck on our star about BSN shows up again. Great story about Mabel Mercer singing BSN. JM is vague about the sources of her guitar tuning I thought it was the Blues musicians she heard in DEEtroit. I loved the Long Explanation about her affinity for Native American Spiritual Way. Pointing out to JM that she was at the bottom third of Mojo Guitar list was insulting. Now Miss Joan why were you 77 in your class of 100 this year. Opps gettin to serious. So i have heard reports of whats next for Joni More Mendoza or if I had my way it would be just the Herbie, Wayne and Joni Trio playing Sondhiem/Hammerstein Standards plus any new thing she might write. (The cover of the latter was sketched from the kitchen window view.) When Crosby, Stills and Nash first formed they practiced here. And when Graham Nash lived here with Joni, he wrote "Our House".
