My Ex told me that Joni was in the top fo best albums of 2000 on this cool radio station call WXPN. I am not sure where exactly she made it on the list but they did play the entire CD. I hope she comes out with another CD real soon. Her music STILL touches my soul deeply and I understand just how painfully sad she was during the BLUE and FTR period. (Boy I can relate!!!) Those songs are so intense. She puts words together so eloquently. They ring deep! She just called tell me her flight from Lexington to Atlanta was canceled and her father is driving her to Cincinnati, from where she can get a direct flight home to Jacksonville, the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise. Hey folks. For those of you who are new to JMDL, welcome! I'd like to remind all that Joni has 21 official releases out on CD including "Both Sides Now". Joni's webmaster, Jim Johanson (and his predecessor, the late Wally Breese) created a special section devoted to BSN at: www.jonimitchell.com/BSNFrame.html . Some of Joni album titles are available as new premium LPs on web sites like http://acousticsounds.com/cgi-bin/Database_search/db_search.cgi. To explore Joni's visual side, try out http://www.mendel.saskatoon.sk.ca/shop/ where you may find that a very affordable poster of her recent retrospective is still available. As recently as last month, they still had the Catalog of the show "voices" available for sale too. Or you can telephone the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at (306) 975-7616. Joni video tapes and DVDs are available, including the "Shadows and Light" concert and the "Painting With Words and Music" concert. There are books too about Joni's tunings, lyrics, a collection of reviews, and about her life. (Besides the retrospective catalog "voices" already mentioned). Amazon.com lists a bunch. Be sure to read the candid customer's reviews before your purchase. On the horizon, it's been rumored that Joni will be among the first artists immortalized on the new high resolution, low fatigue "DVD-Audio" format. A poster print sale is now on to benefit the Joni Internet community. Details are on www.jmdl.com and www.jonimitchell.com . Concert photos of Joni are available for purchase from www.jonimitchell.com . ~~~~~~~ If you would like advice before purchasing, post a question here on JMDL. There are hundreds of articulate, experienced Joni fans right here! Thanks for supporting the best singer-songwriter in the English speaking world, Jim Lamadoo ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 30 Dec 2000 23:27:34 -0800 From: susan+rick Subject: The Real New Millenium Joni Giveaway In honour of the real but almost universally neglected beginning of the new millennium I am announcing a contest. The Prize: Two lucky members of the JMDL will each win a copy of the Canadian magazine Elm Street featuring a lovely cover pic of Joni and Anne Bayin's reminiscences of her early friendship with Joni. (See Jim's jonimitchell.com site for a preview.) The Rules: All you have to do to enter is reply to this email and tell me your name and the name of the country you currently live in before the contest deadline of 12 midnight Pacific Standard Time, December 31, 2000. (That's the time zone on the west coast of North America--Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, etc. For purposes of this contest, the official time sent will be the time shown in the "sent" column on my Outlook Express email application.) One entry per person please. The Draw: Some time on January 1, 2001 I will copy all of your names onto little pieces of paper and divide them into two hats: one for North America (Canada and the U.S.A.) and one for all the rest of the world. Someone dear to me will draw a name from each hat and those two people will each receive a copy of Elm Street. Winners will be notified privately and on the JMDL. The Follow-up: When you are notified that you have won, you send me your snail-mail address and I mail you your prize. That's it. Not too complicated I hope. I also hope to get a lot of far-flung entrants. It's 11:27 p.m., December 30, here now so you have a bit over 24 hours to get your entry in.
