THANK YOU to all the FRIENDS; although we4ve never met - but thanks to the Internet - in a way we can get in touch: someone somewhere out there....knows/feels/understands..., and THANKS TO ALL THE COMFORT - in one way or the other - ESPECIALLY COMING FROM: KARIN - What a beautiful interpretation of the Swedish poem/song: Home for Christmas.. my little orphan-sister. hoping to see nd meet you in 2001. WALLY - My beloved one - sending such beautiful words down form Argentinia to all your friends - and ALTHOUGH: I didn4t like the Re/Subject: H...B...., yes, it was meant as a compliment, and altthough it kept/keeps a smile in my eyes... but the first really leaves a bitter taste , and I4d prefer Krim...if you know what I mean.... Hopefully I`ll be right in/on time to send H. B. - reaching the 4th decade; I4m climbing towards the fifth, little virgo me... GARRET: And such a young one (please forgive me, of course age is not the problem), but still ...finding the right words to express his thoughts, they meant COMFORT, and I wish and hope, you4ll have a really good time in Amsterdam - it4s great, you4ll going to love it, and let4s talk about your experience, no not about the "heavy stuff" next time, but still.. what is heavy....what is stuff? COLIN: sorry, got the wrong interpretation of friend, although once upon a time...we tried, then we knew we were/are friends and hopefully will be. But still, Christmas Eve was great, spent with a friend. STEVE: Thanks for keeping in touch, so will I - I4d prefer B & P, I think that4s the easiest way. And not only to you: kitchen is beautiful, and my new sofa, oh, how I like to cuddle on it - just me - listening to our dear Lady JM, knowing, feeling that somewhere someone out there knows, gives me that special feeling. And to all of you - not only the above mentioned - (and who4s interested in Karin4s interpretatio?....It4s ever so warm and really beautiful...) I WILL KEEP IN TOUCH: 2001 TO ALL OF YOU OF THE SAME SPIRIT OF THE SAME LONGING AND LUST ONE (CE) SOMEONE SOMEWHERE OUT THERE GOT IN TOUCH... and it made my day(s). HELGA FROM GERMANY -LOVE TO ALL OF YOU. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Dec 2000 11:26:00 -0800 From: Michael Paz Subject: Re: Any new recording activity? In a brief interview with actor Tim Daly (he used to be in the TV show "Wings"), at the end the question is: Us: We hear you're quite the guitar player. TD: I get very little chance to play anymore, but my son has started to. It's *so* adorable. My wife and I were in bed one night, and he came in and said, "Mom, Dad! Have you ever heard of Joni Mitchell? She is so dope!" We're like, "Yes, honey. We've definitely heard of her." Okay, so is "dope" a good thing? I assume so! On another note, very few of my friends listen to Joni and I hold back from expounding on her for fear of boring those who are not interested. I have one friend, though, who said she'd recently had an opportunity on a long drive alone (very rare for us moms of small kids) to listen to HOSL. She raved on and on about what an amazing CD it is and how much of a genius Joni is. Who am I to argue? She said she'd have to figure out what Joni to get next. Being the fine and upstanding list member that I am, I thought long and hard and decided on "Hejira," which I gave her for an unexpected Christmas present. I told her no self-respecting Joni list member would let a comment of what next Joni to get go by without immediate action. (Unfortunatey, she wouldn't accept it without feeling the need to rush out and get me something, which was not what I'd intended.) So far, she said she loves it, but we haven't had a chance to talk since the holiday madness. I have gotten the new tape trees and am just so thrilled. Thank you to all who worked so hard to make it so great! Ashara, you are a queen!! The first tape of Joni's pre-exhibition interview is very difficult for me to understand (you know, I'm a court reporter; I need everyone to speak up!) Is this normal? Well, because of this problem with comprehension, I sort of wondered at my uncharacteristic blase attitude toward most of the interview. Then when it came time for the various people to make introductions at the opening of the exhibit, I almost fast-forwarded. But I held on. One of the people who spoke (I believe she represented a sponsor of the exhibit) told a story of being on a plane back to Saskatchewan and was seated next to a person who had been a longtime fan who was coming with a group to see the exhibit. As if that wasn't enough, she said she learned that the group was all HIV-positive. She immediately felt uneasy and apologized at the man's statement, and he smiled and said "Joni brings us all together" or something like that. I burst into tears. It is just amazing to know the ways in which Joni has affected people. You could see Joni was moved by this story and made a comment to the woman as she left the mike. In watching that segment at the Mendel, I wondered about Myrtle. Everytime the camera was on Joni, Bill and Myrtle, Myrtle seemed to have a kind of vacant expression her face. Does she have Alzheimers? I hadn't heard anything about it here. Just wondered. I'm in the midst of watching the second tape, the "Much Music" segment. Wonderful!! Joni just finished "Hejira" when I had to stop the tape, and I thought, yes, I got my friend the right next CD. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday. My husband and I are trying to think of new ways to use up all the leftover food, ham especially (I didn't have all the guests I had expected and have waaaayyyy too much.) Well, let's see. Are we on the fourth dessert portion of the afternoon, or would it be the second appetizer portion. Sigh ... Thank you all for being there to listen to me. Hey Gang, I just want all of you to know that the kind words of wisdom and advice has been very soothing to my heart. It helps soften the pain. I am now able to listen to Joni more and as time goes on will be able to listen to more and more of her songs. gotta stay away from those real depressing ones so there is not a whole lot to choose from (ha, ha). Joni has always been in my life since I was 14 so I know I will never let her go. Especially because of a man. Her LP For the Roses is so wonderful. It is becoming my most favorite for it touches deeply on topics I am working thru. This list is wonderful!! Having loving friends around the world who know how I feel and have been there makes it easier to wake up each day. I heard she was working on it through a couple grapevines a few months ago but can't find any details anywhere on the net. I checked Peter Erskine's web page and also Sir George Martin's AIR Studios but there is nada. Hmmm, maybe she is not going the same route as before and is putting something together right here in lil' old Hollywood. Hmmmm......got any NAMM passes to A&M Studios next month, Paz? hehehe.
